Anything that really stood out on your fist full listen?

The two pre-released tracks of course, but I didn't have a playlist in front of me, so I can't really say. Plus, I'm at work, so it was kind of more background than anything. I'll have a better grasp of it later on. I have a really powerful system at home, so I can crank it and feel it more. This is usually my process with new stuff. First cursory listen at work, then crank it like a live concert at home. My neighbors hate me.

Well you better be sure you do shake the foundation of your home, as well as your entire neighborhood with that sound system, because this album deserves that treatment.

An easy 10/10 from me for the album. I was excited as f*ck when the band announced the new album, and it was eagerly waiting to hear at least a few tracks from it before it was released. Motherf*cker is one of my favorites.

The whole thing is incredible. It's a little deceiving at times too, like in Rise of the Fall where they take you down a bit of a reggae road only to chew you up and spit you out by the time it's over you feel ear raped. Love it. Patton's vox are on point all throughout too, and it's like coming home after a long trip. I might do a proper review at some point if the planets line up just right and I happen to find myself in front of a computer with nothing else to do (I had to pause it 3 times last night due to life things happening).

Me too. Also, Cone of Shame and Matador. I need a few more listens though to really pin down my favorites, as they're all that good.

Were you two the same as I was when the album was even announced before anything new was heard, and weren't even a little bit nervous that a new album from these guys after so f*cking long wouldn't be worth it? Because I wasn't nervous at all. I knew it'd be well worth it. Faith No More has never been that band for me where I got nervous or thought I'd be let down by an album. Pretty consistent band. And, damn. Patton still writes masterful songs and those vocals never get weak or tired with him aging throughout the years.

Matador is where it's at for me. That song rules. And I know what you mean with Rise And Fall. It's like, holy sh*t!

Really digging the album. Superhero and Separation Anxiety were the tracks that really stood out to me.

All in all, I think it's a great addition to their discog, and stays true to their signature sound while still being a pretty unique record.

I'm into all of the tracks massively...

1. Rise of the Fall
2. Matador
3. Cone of Shame
4. Black Friday
5. Sunny Side Up
6. Mother****er
6. Superhero (tie)
8. From the Dead (I hate to rate this one so low, because I really, really love this one and all FNM tracks like this one)
9. Separation Anxiety
10. Sol Invictus

They're all so nice though <3

I finally made time to listen to the new FNM album. While I am thrilled they are making new music again, I am honestly disappointed. I feel like there is something missing. One issue for me is a lot of the songs have Mike Patton singing so many low notes, instead of the higher range he is known for. It is a different sound, and while not terrible, it was not what I was expecting. Matador is the closest to what I consider the vocal sound I am talking about. Mother****er surprisingly was my favorite song. Usually with a title like that, it is just a gimmick song with little substance but I am a fan of it, and it exceeded my expectations. It actually kind of reminds me of a mix of Butthole Surfers "Pepper".

Mike Patton is genius across the board. The rest of us mortals only got the one cranium yet he lucked into at least three.
