Some of the second wave black metal bands, I believe, did a little more than play offensive music. Look up Mayhem on wikipedia. ****ed up ****, if you ask me.

Favorites;
Arcturus
Cradle of Filth (not really black metal, buthas always been associated with it)
Dimmu Borgir
Darkthrone
Emperor
Satyricon
Old Man's Child
Immortal
Venom
Kovenant (In Times Before Light, of course)

Am looking into getting;
Dark Funeral
Enslaved
Bathory
Mercyful Fate
Celtic Frost
Mayhem
Burzum
Entombed
more of the otherbands I already have, except for Cradle, Dimmu, Satyricon, and Old Man's Child

Celtic Frost are awesome..

I like Alcest and Amesouers, and some Xasthur and Leviathon. Generally though, I do not like black metal.

BEcause we can't loop in Cannibal Corpse with DragonForce or Black Sabbath with Mayhem.

Metal has many children...... even bastards *cough*nu-metal*cough*

mmmmmm i love me some dragon force. i would say my favorite thing about metal artist is the amount of softies who dig some good ole d&d and soda pop in the basement.
