I don't see why Aerosmith, the White Stripes and the like are being mentioned. Sure you may not like them but it's pretty obvious they have accessible tunes that a lot of people can and do like.

Maybe for some people, artists stop being accesable when they get filthy ****ing rich and you can no longer relate to them?
No, thats probably not it... |

Anything calling itself "chalkface". I've tried to get into those albums time and again and I just can't do it. As for stuff I have actually gotten into and enjoyed... Minit, which is an expirimental electronica duo. It's fascinating stuff really. And though some might disagree, I think PiL is a bit hard to get into at first.

Joking aside. I understand that "Inaccessible" depends on the person.
A lot of music people find inaccessible is not to me, not just the standard prog stuff, but a lot of the avant stuff, Frank Zappa, John Zorn, Brian Eno, The Residents, Henry Cow, Mr. Bungle. I don't get what is so inaccessible about it, it has a big appeal to me. Just because it's incredibly bold and experimental doesn't mean it's hard for me to get into, that's the kinda music I crave to hear. So for me, the music of Fred Frith and Glenn Branca isn't anywhere near as inaccessible as say, the music of ZZ Top or Bad Company, so accessibility like everything else is a subjective thing. |
