I was just listening to some of the tracks off the self-titled on YouTube and it's actually quite a bit more mellow and stoner-ish than I remembered (I haven't listened to the album in at least 13 years). But there is still some more hardcore sounding stuff too. This was my favorite song on the album back in the day:

Oh. Whoops! I was talking about Clutch the whole time.

I'm looking forward to that Bardo Pond album anyway though.

I completly agree with you my man. Beale street is great, although in my opinion some of the songs sound a lot alike it is still a great album through and through. And yeah pure rock fury is prolly them at there lowest but it still has its moments. I'm still tryin to find Jam Room, most of the albums i bought were off eBay.

i hear you on the beale st. sound-a-like action. although i just take it as longer songs split into shorter tracks, like the first 2-3 songs barely register as separate tracks to my ears. my only real complaint is the political angle on some of the tunes, it's not as bad as some other 'grr-politics' tracks i've heard, just that it runs the risk of dating some of the material.

YES! Soapmakers is my favorite clutch song ever, such a great beat and tells an awsome story.

But seeing clutch live all messed up is the best way to see clutch, i know i was a WAY "lifted" when i saw em the second time haha.

i saw them once and it was a real bad experience. it was at a sounds of the underground fest and there were all kinds of real heavy metal bands. then these guys came on while i was waiting for lamb of god. i got pissed cuz they sounded like a jam band and i wanted heavy. but i was young and dumb, i might appreciate it more now. probably not though. thumbs down.
