And I wouldn't put Maynard dead last, simply because his lyrics are a huge part of what Tool is about. Without them, it'd be like having a face without a name, although I can't say that someone else wouldn't be able to do as good of a job. Yes, will be my first time seeing them live, I've been waiting so long, I missed out on tickets last time... and tickets sold out in 2 minutes this time around but I managed to get some, so happy! It's a festival though... but I'm sure even Tool can sound good at a festival. Hopefully!

They sound just as good at a festival as they do in a large venue/arena saw them at last BDO they played and they tore it up. Fingers crossed maynard joins deftones on stage for Passenger that would blow my sox off!

I just recently started playing Tool and even though the guitar isn't complex its definately really fun

Love this band!

Omgzzz totally bumping this thread since I am back now.

So I just want to say, I've pretty much given up on Tool releasing a new album. In fact I haven't listened to them in so, so long. Even Karnivool are working on their next recording faster than Tool!

I wouldn't give up on them yet. Any tool fan knows that the band is very mysterious about when they say they're in the studio, and when they say they're going to release a new album. I'm hoping for a new album this year, but i'm not going to be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

If you're looking for something to curb the shakes and sweats that accompany waiting for a new Tool release I would recommend checking out the band Rishloo. They kind of occupy the same space as Pineapple Thief, a band that manages to mimic the sound and style of another, better band, but does so in such a way that makes them quite listenable. I would recommend their 2007 album Eidolon, although I've heard good things about their 2004 album Terras Fames.

I would have expected a new album by now. I know there was five years between Ænima and Lateralus, and five years between Lateralus and 10,000 Days, but come on now six years is pushing it. Six years!

10,000 Days wasn't quite as good as Ænima and Lateralus but I'm still wondering can they still pull off something impressive at this stage in their career. Hopefully they will release something late this year or early next year.

I would prefer a band like Tool to take their time to develop the best album possible rather than the route that many bands (unfortunately follow) where they just throw together albums on the fly to sell as many as they can. A six year wait may not be a bad thing, it also aides in appreciating the album all the more when it does come out.
