because NoMeansNo is beyond punk. Most punk fans I know dont even get them. My theory being their little brains can't process anything that isn't played at hyperspeed in the typical 4/4 time that runs over 2 minutes (even that is pushing it for their attention span).

The VU isn't punk? That's fine with me. They're definitely better than The Sex pistols or any other "punk" band.

Whether they're better than the Sex Pistols or any other punk band is not issue here, VU were far more influential on the future indie scene than on punk.

I'm guessing you're not a fan of punk, but you should check out some of the debut albums by some of the lesser known punks bands of the time, such as The Saints and The Dead Boys these are great albums that often get overshadowed by the better known punk acts and usually get very good reviews. I revisited these bands recently and realized how good they actually were.

I'm not that much of a fan but I don't hate it, aside from the sex pistols, I just really don't like that band. I definitely like the ramones more

What about MC5? I think they might very well be the first punk band. Or they at least helped invent it.

The Avengers, Flipper, UK Subs, The Fall (more Post-Punk to some, but really they're Punk to me), The Only Ones, Stiff Little Fingers... the list is very long.

"Young, Loud and Snotty" is one of the best punk albums.

lots of great bands from that time which arent as big as they should be. Stiff Little Fingers, The Vibrators, The Dead Boys, The Toy Dolls.... list goes on and on.
