Are you trying to be a contrarian here? Because that album is widely recognized among the fanbase as one of the their worst, along with Super Collider.

Yeah, heaven forbid someone have a different opinion than the "widely recognized" one. If they do, it must be because they're "trying to be a contrarian."

. . . just a bit of a pet peeve, because I often have opinions that are different than widely recognized opinions, and I'm certainly not a fan of people seeing norms as normatives--that is, feeling that just in case most folks x, then one probably should x.

For me it's Megadeth, and Slayer being a close second.

I too also liked Risk despite it being the unpopular opinion with most metal fans. It beats the crap out of anything Metallica did in the 90's.

Yes. Yes it does. As does pretty much any other 90s Megadeth album.

It seems like Anthrax and Metallica would have to be my most listened to. However I was most impressed with Megadeaths earlier works compared to the discographies of the others. I have to be in a very specific mood to listen to Slayer though.

So my order would go like this

Megadeath
Metallica (could easily switch with Anthrax)
Anthrax
Slayer
