I actually have to agree with you on the vocals, I'm not that much a fan of them. To be honest I usually hate growly vocals and it's pretty rare I like them as I prefer something that at least tries to resemble singing. But as long as they aren't that intrusive and over the top of the music I don't mind them.

Tis why I like Electric Wizard and High on Fire, they're vocals are growly but they're often drowned in the music which makes them that much more tolerable. Mastodon are bordering on too intrusive for my liking but definitely fantastic musicians and they come together really well as a group so I guess thats some thumbs ups for them.

Mastodon is (technichally are) a good band, I love Leviathan, and the theme of Moby Dicck, Only 5 posts, I guess not many people have heard of them.

new cd makes baby jesus cry. Vocals sound atrocious, the drums sound pussed out and the rest of it just sounds like they didn't put a lot of thought into it. I dunno maybe I'm just expecting them to do a lot better than this cd.

There were no demons, no hellfire or brimstone, just a deep, complete feeling of darkness and hopelessness. This was the never-ending void. Not at all how I had imagined it, but worse than I thought that it could have been.
