Leviathan is sweet and is the best point of intro., "Hearts Alive" being the most Mastodon-esque track which sound like Yes if they had been brought up on thrash and melodic death metal. Very heavy, complex and beautiful. Also, if you like drumming, you can't beat Brann Dailor.

The country riff in the middle of Megalodon makes me smile everytime.

i really love "shadows that move" off "lifesblood EP" with the intro and the slamming riff, just so energetic.

they are a brilliant band. blood mountain is alright, but nothing like remission.

oh, and i missed seeing them with tool :'(

I have heard a lot of this band so I got hold of Blood Mountain. It did'nt do a lot for me. Is there earlier stuff any better?

I do admit, after listening to metal for over 20 years, it takes a damn good album to turn my head these days.

I'd get a second opinion because i'm still pretty torn over what my favourite album is. One thing i do know, you should hear the song Blood and Thunder. Seen as one of their best.

i've always heard that 'leviathan' was their best disc. dunno. i liked 'blood mountain' from the get go. blood and thunder is a great tune too, neil fallon from clutch does guest vocals on it.

I have just checked out Blood And Thunder. The drum track was shet hot but it still did'nt do a lot for me.

This still excites me more than many Metal releases. It is nearly 20 years old and sounds completely original even now. No mean feat considering the close proximity Metal bands share musically.

I would really appreciate a view on this. Voivod are a supremely underated band.
