Their singing style is derivative of every other metalcore, melodic metalcore, post-hardcore, melodic death metal, or whatever the hell the bands want to call themselves. The fact that it's not quite as whiny or teenager sounding as Panic at the Disco does not strike me as a significant difference.

Most of the lyrics (which are my main problem with the band) are basic "pump up" type lyrics, like those in Pantera's "Walk".

Emo for rednecks.

As for the metalcore thing I don't see it at all, and the bands you listed to compare gave absolutely no justice to your argument at all.

So because As I Lay Dying or whoever have elements of their sound that differentiate them SOMEWHAT from the ****tiest of the ****ty bands, they are completely different?

If 5FDP is derivative of anything, it is from Pantera or any other groove metal band. They remind me of a less-good and more melodic Lamb of God.

Any similarities are shallow. They put a sheen of groove on their metalcore theivery.
