Best of Modern Metal.
Which band does the forum think is the best of modern metal? Consider modern to be mid-nineties to present, so that includes Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Trivium and other bands that fit into that era.

Mastodon, Buzzov*en, Kylesa, High On Fire, Sleep, Warbringer, Acid Bath, Eyehategod, Lamb Of God, Municpal Waste, Bison BC, Dark Castle, Unearthly Trance....... I'm gonna stop there because there are too many that I can name.
|
For myself I'd have to say Mastodon

****ing Opeth, man.
I know someone's said it already, but ****ing Opeth. And I'm not totally sure if this is just hard rock with some metal influences but System of A Down. Good ****, man. |
Yeah man, Opeth, Lamb of God, Mastodon probably the best three, followed by Bodom and In Flames.
|
Someone named Kyuss but I'd hardly call them modern...
As for me, really been digging Boris and Baroness lately |
Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Opeth, Genghis Tron, Baroness, those are my favorites.
Edit: forgot Between The Buried And Me, they're great too. |

I know they don't get very much love here at MB, my favorite is "Five Finger Death Punch".

Jfac go allright, DOOM was exciting when it came out although I'm very glad knowing that they were the first band to turn away from the pile of crap that is Deathcore.

The only slight resemblance I could see from that list is Trivium, MAYBE. Unearth's vocals can be likened to the sound of someone pooping , AILD typically uses a full on death growl, and Killswitch has the whole guttural/operatic dynamic. FFDP's sound is like a worse pantera with more melodic vocals

I recognize that they're derivative, just not from metalcore. The members of the band came from W.A.S.P. and a nu-metal outfit called motograter just for reference
