i believe tarja turunen deserves a mention. her voice is oh so captivating.

I like a lot of the singers mention like Janis Joplin, Lennie Annox, & Stevie Nicks. I know most people gravitate to strong loud voices e.g. John Mayer called Hayley Williams "The great orange hope." When she screams imo it sounds like her voice go flat. So I like regular singings with good technique but who don't hot dog it all the time.
My pick is Chrissie Hynde, she has a nice soft voice she sings with a lot of emotion and has good vibrato. She can do both ballads with a sentimental touch and she belt out a rock song too. And imo you can say the same thing about Stevie Nicks. |
Also nobody`s mentioned Kate Bush, surely one of the most distinctive sounding female artists ever.
