Is Kate Bush more R&B & Soul?

Kate Bush only makes an album once every 4 years on average. She rarely tours and is eccentric to the core. She is also highly regarded in musicians circles as one of the finest female vocalists ever. I don't think I have ever read one negative opinion from other musicians about her work. Ever.

I find that Art rock, progressive, & alternative rock are her specific genre classification (wki). I might actually prefer Kate Bush over Janis Joplin to be honest.:p:

Hey you don`t know Kate Bush! Without doubt one of the most gifted female artists to have ever walked the Earth. Her first 5 albums released between 1978-1985 are a must. I find her one of the most captivating artists ever.

I would vote my support for Kate Bush if only I thought rock singer was a good description. She certainly can be a rock singer and, according to her biography, wanted to do more rockier stuff after her debut only it didn't end up that way on her studio recordings much. But excluding her from my mental list, I might have to voice some support to Ann Wilson from Heart, if only because I like quite a bit of their music. :)

And I would also agree that Janis Joplin along with her band is overrated.

Some nice Kate Bush clips here, but I`m surprised no-one has mentioned Sonja Kristina yet.
Well, I guess Sonia`s also more prog than straight out rock. She may not be the best, but she won a lot of admirers with songs like this, which she co-wrote in 1970 :-

Youre just listening to Janis for the first time? I bet youre being blown away. I'd say Janis Joplin and Grace slick. Can i count Aretha Franklin? I guess she was more R&B, but i think she fits into the category of early rock n roll. Also, Allison Mosshart is one of the best today in my opinion.

She was on the "Placebo" song Meds, other than that..eh..
