Default Best Popular Hard Rock Jam

What do you think is the best popular hard rock jam? I'll let people define "hard rock" for themselves. I'm trying to define "jam" - rather unstructured, not short, lyrics relatively unimportant. "Hard rock jam" would be guitar- or bass-driven and not reliant on keyboards. As an example, "Mista Bone," by Great White.

Deep Purples "Smoke On The Water" has to fit in somewhere. Along with Blue Oyster Cults "Godzilla".

But I will suggest one that is a personal favorite rock jam of mine by Ned Nugent. Its very underrated as a guitar jam in my opinion.

Ned Nugent?

I consider those jams, but I'm not into 70's rock. The title track "A Night on the Town" by Bruce Hornsy is one I like, but I probably have to pick "Mista Bone" by default. Maybe someone will mention a jam I like better.

Surely a 'jam' is confined to studio rehearsals or live albums?

I am not quite sure what u are looking for here.

Quality riffs or extended plays on albums?

My favorite all-time song period, (more than likely) is "Mandolin Rain" by Hornsby. (and a classic I might add). "The Way It Is" is another mainstream/classic pop single as well I like, even though they may not be the the type of jams your looking for, I'm just babbling..

Try Neil Young and Crazy Horse on some of their live recordings.

Little Feat would be another good band to check out if your talking "Live" music.

I don't mean live (jams are too easy live). I mean studio recordings that got significant airplay.

The best I can come up with at the time is "Machine Gun" by the Commodores. The style relies more on the bass-line, verses the rock guitar aspect.

This single got its most air-play from 1974 to 1980.

That was strange. Short without lyrics and plenty of keyboards. They played it on the radio? Anyway, I thought your earlier suggestions qualified as hard rock jams, in my opinion. I just don't happen to like them To each his own.
