^Sorry to disappoint but I've not heard the Mastodon album. It'll have to be just about the greatest thing since sliced bread to beat Baroness though.

I can assure you it is. I'm going to listen through both again though and cast my vote.

Remission is prety sweet, though Mastodon aren't really my favorite band ever. The Red Album gets my vote easily. I just might go pleasure myself to that album in fact.

I like Mastodon more, but Red Album is definitely better than Remission.

Having just listened to the red album, and remission side by side, I'm conflicted, but I'm going to have to go with Mastodon. Remission seems to have more of a bite.

This is a really tough one for me. While Remission certainly has "more of a bite" as Unrelenting accurately put it, Red Album is more focused and consistently enjoyable.

Remission

Sure, it's unrelenting and brutal, but it's also kinda one-note. I have Crack the Skye and Blood Mountain and both are better than this.

The Red Album

Pretty diverse, there's "space-metal", there's blues. A strong Zeppelin-esque vibe runs throughout. Noice!

so

Mastodon - 1

But not "Leviathan"? It's like Remission but a lot better. Figured Baroness didn't have a chance against it, that's why I picked Remission instead.
