Trends are recycled all of the time. Back in the early 80s, there was a 50s rockabilly revival, now in the 10s, we're currently having an 80s synthpop revival.

I think to stay alive, rock will have to fuse with other types of music. We saw this with Linkin Park, and we can see it again.
