A great thrash vocalist can definitely put a band way over the top of just about any other type of metal band afaic, since the genre is still close enough to more "listenable" forms of music that there's possibility for more variety in singing styles than just screaming in an interesting way, while being right at the portal of extremity so that a unique aggressive singer can still shine without sounding at all inappropriate.

None of them will ever be able to front a bizarre, experimental, extreme metal band that blows your mind with what-in-the-****-even-is-this, but as far as any kind of more straightforward metal I think thrash has the most potential for winning big with a great singer.

But I can still just crack out to great thrash riffs for hours on end even with a mediocre singer.

Oh and if there weren't so many epitomes of thrash bands with ****ty singers but amazing riffs then I'd say these guys were the epitome of that thing. Tech thrash is way better than tech death.

And if I can be accused of fanboying at this point, Eternal Devastation is like the best thrash album ever with bad vocals, even if I like them in an 80s metal nerd kind of way. But god damn does this album ****ing slay.

Don Doty is my all-time favorite thrash vocalist.

I like Ron Rinehart. He's a cheesy singer, but that's alright. Cheesy thrash is rare and under-valued.

This one has alienated a lot of Ministry fans. What do you all think of the new song?

John Haughm of Agalloch's new band. Solid enough, doesn't try to reinvent the wheel or anything.
