Most of the second disc is good. I especially like Breadfan, So What, Am I Evil, Damage Case and Helpless.
Theres a few erm...."interesting" covers on the first disc but Turn The Page is beautiful. |

metallica will continue to sell anything they put out but they have run their course. to be honest i'd rather listen to the new trivium album, a band definitely influenced by metallica. |

The second half of Garage, Inc especially the Garage Days tracks had a massive impact on me as a kid and they still get a blast out once in a while. Helpless and The Small Hours especially. I have the classic Diamond Head album 'Lightning To The Nations' which had a massive influence on Metallica.

All of these covers are less than a third as good as the originals. What an awful 2 discs to have to sit through.

i got into metal because of the tallica boys. but you can't deny that some of their music sucks weenie. as far as the napster crap, who gives.
|
I have to confess to not hearing any of the cover songs discussed here - but I will add that in my observations, cover albums rarely have tracks that sound as good as, or even better than the originals - there's a reason why we savor and favor the original versions - we heard them first, they became precious to us, and they are locked into our memories, along with significant ocassions, memories and the like...
So when someone comes along and changes it all - we naturally don't feel as if it is as good... |

I know, I stopped caring about 4 years ago when this thread was made...dude.
Someone lock this shit up already.. |
The mod team thought you needed the humbling.
=P |
i didn't want to read all the pages but i read the first 3.
it really wasn't neccessary. anyone who puts zach delarocha up as an example for anything other than a pretender has little/no knowledge of what they speak. |
why is this thread relevant again?

And for equally logical reasons.
|
Well, yeah, but only because of what they were doing over two decades ago. It's hard to just...lose one's "legendary" status, no matter how many crap albums you put out afterwards - no matter how many times you reinforce the notion that you're only still in it for the money. I think for Metallica to no longer be considered "legends" they'd have to be caught like...raping children or something.

Nice version: umm they're overated
Not so nice version: umm they're overated and their music is crap |
Quote:
Thats the meanest thing you have to say about metallica? I could think if some stuff way more 'not so nice' than that. |
i didn't say "mean" i said "Not So Nice"
and that was the most simple truthful explination |

Fully agree with Wayfarer! Let people talk everything they want about this but we love "You've pulled the trigger on my love gun" and dote!
|
dude this is awesome.
you would think that "metal gods" would respect a corporation that doesn't hand everything to "the man", but instead they're trying to fight them. |

However, I agree with you on Kill 'Em All, and not only for the fact that you used the term "bee's knees". I can't hate Metallica. I used to love them. Master of Puppets is still the shit. Sure, they got lame after ...And Justice For All, but that's what happens when you team up with Bob Rock. You make a hit record that's palatable to the masses. Doesn't matter how much I think it sucks. It's not gonna change Metallica's minds. But check this out http://208.116.9.205/10/content/13878/1.jpg |
They may of done that but u cant complain about their music, its amazing
