Best/worst live bands (you've seen)
 

A topic that's probably been done a few thousand times before but screw it, most of the topics on here are godawful anyway so...

Best: Isis. One of my favourite bands anyway but their sound quality, stage presence and all-round performance when I saw then recently was simply astounding.

Worst: Lostprophets. An easy target I suppose but one of the few really dire bands I've seen. It was at an outdoor fest so the sound was understandably poor, though they just had so little power or conviction (coupled with pretty terrible music to begin with) that I don't feel like giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Best: the hives :D

Nope, they came down to Plymouth at one point.. Hey when you saw them, did Ville keep randomly talking about his dog?? He did with us, it was pretty damn strange...

He kept talking about how he wanted his 'hot liquor'.. Perhaps he wanted to drown out the experience of playing in Norwich..

Hah he's awesome... It was funny hearing him talk about his dog though, he was just laughing all the time because his dog was ill... He musta taken something just before he came on stage, he seemed pretty out of it.. *Sigh* Good gig though, good gig..

did he dedicate "funeral of hearts" to his pooch? that would be fitting.

well the best gig i ever saw was tool in june ´92 in LA...what an excellent display of power, from these by then unknown young men...

as for the worst concert i had the "pleasure" to witness probably was Rammstein in `99 in Colongne....and man..did they suck...and no firecracker-lightshow could compensate for the **** they played together...-.- i don`t know what the matter was..maybe they were drunk or drugged by some potion...who knows...but for me, it was a wast of money...

I saw sparta a few months ago. Didn't like it too much.
Can't say the were the WORST but not good. At all.

hands down without a doubt the worst live band i have ever seen is BOSTON. they went on tour a couple of years ago and they were so bad that people actually started to leave. within fifteen minutes or so the venue was literally empty. motley crue pretty much suck too. metallica and tesla are awesome live.

i've seen a lot of good music, so i don't know about the best.

but the worst was mos' definitely Nine Inch Nails.
buncha regurgitated donkey droppings.

Best - Hong Kong punk comedy band False Alarm - "gimme more gimme more........ free porn"

Worst - Sugar (all songs sounded the same)

Best: Hurt, Alice in Chains, Hatebreed (not a huge fan but they were entertaining), and Lamb of God
Hopefully when I see Godsmack this summer they live up to my expectations, as I am hearing great things about their live performances (and witnessed them on the dvds)

Worst: Cage the Elephant, Framing Hanley, Atreyu, 3 Inches of Blood

Really? That is very unfortunate, what was bad about it?

Saw them last year and will see them again this year, not the best but still entertaining.

Best band I've seen, based on the show itself, was He Is Legend. Was a really small venue and the band really put on a show (and sounded great as well).

Worst band I've seen, based on the show itself, has to be The Deftones. I like them a lot, but I'm sorry... Chino cannot sing worth a shit IRL, and their sound guy decided to try and mask it or something by putting a huge 1x echo on the vocals 100 PERCENT OF THE TIME.

What's worse than one Chino singing?

Kind of surprised to hear that about The Deftones. I've watched their videos on Youtube and Chino sounded fine to me... maybe it's different actually being there.

Maybe he had an off-day or something, but I have also seen unflattering vids as well. In any case, their sound guy was not helping at all.

It's been a long time since I frequented live concerts. The Cramps did a good show when they were here in Melbourne years ago, although I got the feeling it was fairly well rehearsed craziness. Nick Cave is good live. Jesus and Mary Chain were a bit of a disappointment. They were so detached from the audience they might as well have been on tv.

I almost wish Brand New was detached from the audience when I saw them. They were totally into the crowd but played awful and Jesse Lacey was being a real weirdo. Definitely the worst band I've seen live as far as that goes, but luckily I haven't been devastatingly disappointed by anyone that I can recall. I hate to say it, but Rush was even a little disappointing when I saw them 2 years ago. I guess I went in expecting them to be what they were back when Rush in Rio came out. Oh well.
Definitely the best band I ever saw live was this band called Damiera (they're in my top 3). They sounded just like as if someone was playing their record over the PA, and they were jumping around and everything. Amazing.

Can't believe Deftones and Nine Inch Nails have been pinned as being BAD live. What on earth?! I can only assume the people who said that are fucking idiots because there's no way that either band can be terrible live, I have seen both and both have been utterly fantastic and have never spoken to another person with a different view on that.

Anyway for me, best live band I've seen is quite hard to pinpoint. Pixies would be my choice, naturally, but that's more of a sentimental thing and I imagine if you weren't as into their music as I am, it would probably be quite boring. The Flaming Lips, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth, Arcade Fire, Prince, Bon Iver, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Stevie Wonder and Dinosaur Jr come very close though.

Worst band I've seen live? Probably The Libertines, Kids In Glass Houses, The View or The Living End. Hard to choose again.

The Hold Steady made me very sleepy when I saw them live.

Enter Shikari has to go under my worst too. I managed to get on the barrier for the second stage at Glastonbury a few years ago so I could have a good spot for Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Brand New and they played right in the middle of both and I literally fell asleep on the barrier during their set. Utter gash.

The best live band I've ever seen was Rodrigo y Gabriela. Forget about your fancy stage shows and light shows, it was just a guy and a girl sitting on a stage weaving sheer magic from their acoustic guitars. It was captivating.

The worst live band I've ever seen was Maximo Park. Not only was their music painfully dull and middle of the road but they could barely even hold it together live. Their frontman was so drunk he didn't even know what song they were meant to be playing and their keyboard player could just about stand up, let alone play a note. They were just a mess.

I went to a festival a couple years ago when Alice in Chains first started touring again. Seeing them was virtually the only reason I purchased tickets and bothered to go the festival. Since Alice was headlining their set was scheduled for like 10:00 pm or something but I wanted to get my money's worth so I went to the festival when the doors opened. At this festival I had the severe displeasure of watching Hollywood Undead perform a live musical abortion for 40 minutes or so. They were so unbelievably bad, not only with their cheesy rap/rock sound but also with their juvenile crowd participation urgings and whatnot. Just awful.
