Hmmm. Nope. You don't know about me.
Maybe I just tend to view punk as it used to be.
Alexisonfire is not how punk used to be, and I have a hard time even putting it along side the kind of punk that was coming out in the late 90's, early 00's.

Punk was my mainstay for years, and when I look at Alexisonfire, I simply can't imagine that people would call them punk in any regard.

What section should they be in then?

Country/Folk/International.

Genres...The Great Debate.

Yeah but if you're like me you get bored of all that lightning fast three chord stuff.

When I listened to The Shape Of Punk To Come by Refused it was a huge eye-opener for me, it showed me that punk was not all about just being simple, snotty and fast, it was all about having a certain vibe or energy, and that's why my view of punk rock is so broad. Alexisonfire certainly don't sound like a very traditional punk band but that never stopped Fugazi.

Question: What don't people like about Watch Out?

Alfred 05-09-2009 09:58 PM

What? I love Watch Out!

FaSho 05-09-2009 10:00 PM

Me too, but it seems like I'm the only one who picks it as their favorite. I don't see what makes the debut so much better.

Alfred 05-09-2009 10:04 PM

The debut as an album was better, and I really dig that raw no frills sound they had going, but Watch Out! has some excellent individual songs and it still has some of the rough edge that the debut had.

That Girl Posessed from Watch Out is one of their finest tracks.

At the end of the day their debut is what I want to listen to though.

I like Crisis most, others seem too hardcore for me.

I like them both pretty much the same, but my first love was the debut and its hard to stray from it. I also think the song white devil is a bit lame and there were no lame songs IMO on the st.

Have you guys heard the math sheet demos?
