At The Drive-In - Cosmonaut.
Mind blowing!

QueenNothing 10-09-2008 01:33 PM

Raise Hell-(HED)p.e.

Davey Moore 10-09-2008 02:42 PM

I'm listening to Gimme Shelter right now, and that's pretty intense. For What It's Worth is pretty intense too, it always gets me thinking about gruesome things, the words.

The Beatles version of Twist and Shout is also intense if you're in the right mind frame.

Wifey Boozer 10-11-2008 08:29 AM

Gimme Shelter is one of my favorite Stone's songs of all time... not to mention one of my favorite political songs. Seconded.

Agreed!

Not the heaviest of songs (in some respects), but I've always found Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" to be an extraordinarily intense song. Freddie Mercury's vocals alone during the "I don't want to die..." section are so agonizing and passionate that it wrenches at the very soul.

Bulldog 10-22-2008 02:27 AM

Well, my choices aren't all metal (which I'm guessing was the intention of the thread?) but nevertheless;

Faith No More - ****lobber

David Bowie - Time

New Order - Special

Talking Heads - Listening Wind

Roemilca 01-27-2009 09:29 AM

Giants Orbiting by Discovery Of A Lifelong Error is one of the most spazztic songs I've ever heard.

There is No happy here 01-27-2009 11:28 AM

Grunge_Junkie 01-28-2009 10:41 AM

I think that the "Final Countdown" would be the most intense song ever haha.
Pretty sweet I mean the beat and the riff are so catchy.

Roemilca 01-29-2009 01:04 PM

No Need For Introductions, I've Read About Girls Like You On The Backs Of Toilet Doors by Bring Me The Horizon is pretty much just noise.

[HNTR] 01-29-2009 06:54 PM

the shining 01-30-2009 10:11 PM

Alfred 01-30-2009 10:17 PM

"Ilyena" and "Wax Simulacra" by The Mars Volta are damn intense.

ProggyMan 01-30-2009 10:34 PM

Rock n' Roll Suicide-Bowie

Where Do My Bluebirds Fly?-Tallest Man On Earth

Yog-Sothoth 02-02-2009 08:59 AM

I'm listening to Esoteric's "The Pernicious Enigma" right now and although its not really the type of (double) album that can be taken on a song by song basis, the oppressive atmosphere lends itself to a very "intense" listening experience.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 11-15-2011 12:48 PM

/\ By far probably the most metal album I've ever heard.

THIS song is intense.

Salami 11-15-2011 02:35 PM

Like it or not, that album art is amazing.

skaltezon 11-15-2011 03:28 PM

.

Anaal Nathrakh's music is pretty intense, including this one:

Never Fucking Again

.

Salami 11-15-2011 03:33 PM

I'm getting tired of hearing that boring drumbeat in every damn heavy metal song. It never does anything interesting. It may as well be a machine gun.

s_k 11-15-2011 03:33 PM

Pushit, by Tool.
I still cannot believe the intensity of a song that's that technical.
I don't know how they did that.
It's so intense that I hardly ever play it because only thinking about it is usually anough to give me shivers.

Cheer up.

Does that mean you agree? :D

Woah. That's a wonderful critique; I was going to disagree, but, damn - facing an argument like that, I give up.

Agreed. Instead of forcing the listener to appreciate nuance, these bands need to focus on some novel way of creating rhythm. Perhaps, instead of them using drums, they could use a tap dancer like Tilly & The Wall! Or, hey, maybe they should just use an actual machinegun!!! (EDIT)

Mondo Bungle 11-15-2011 05:40 PM

That's interesting, s_k, because I listened to Pushit by Tool, curious about the song after reading your description, and it actually felt quite relaxing to me. I feel "Right in Two" is much more intense because the music seems like something that is *about* to explode, and then it finally does. "Right in Two" is like watching a fist clenching before...

POW!

Hahaha, funny you should say that because what makes Pu**** so intense to me is the held back energy that's there somewhere. Waiting to explode...
Same feeling, different song. I'll compare them soon :).

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 11-15-2011 09:39 PM

Not much more intense than that.
