aunixx 06-06-2008 10:54 AM

metalmaiden 06-07-2008 10:05 AM

most intense song? the theme of mortal kombat. Lol.

seriously, it's gotta be raining blood by slayer. never gets old and it's always intense.

JerseyPunk 06-08-2008 09:38 AM

I have to agree with all those who said Raining Blood.

But, there is one that is of equivalent intensity (even though it's a punk song)

Nazi Punks **** Off by the Dead Kennedys.

It's literally a 1 minute punk **** off telling nazi punks to, well, **** off. lol

ashtray 06-09-2008 04:13 PM

The Great Southern Trend Kill by Pantera.
**** yeah!

dags 06-14-2008 07:23 PM

the most intense songever is san fransisco serenade by tom waits.

Alfred 06-14-2008 08:58 PM

I Lit Your Baby On Fire - Anal C***

variatingmule 06-15-2008 08:31 AM

I'm probably gonna sound boring as hell, but for me, Layla, Derek and The Dominos...

dbdpromo 06-15-2008 10:30 AM

Hmmm....anything that X Japan does.

Art of Life, Tears, Stab Me In The Back - it's all insanely epic!

WWWP 06-17-2008 10:40 PM

I have to agree with Raining Blood by Slayer.
It makes me want to go spear people in the jugular.

SolitaryBlue 07-03-2008 10:06 PM

suicide note pt.2 by pantera

abacacus 07-04-2008 09:00 PM

may have already been said, but cast down the heretic by nile.

beginning to end of that song is a speed fest. george kollias is a BEAST, i have no idea how he can play that fast for more than 2 seconds or so.

lucifer_sam 07-04-2008 09:18 PM

I don't think it has to be heavy to be intense. Janis Joplin's "Ball and Chain" does justice to this very fact.

NoiseNotMusic 07-05-2008 03:55 PM

any converge or godspeed you! black emperor song

Is it crazy on my part that I think Godspeed gets boring?

Orion 07-05-2008 04:43 PM

Jayhawker - Scale Model Failure
Unsane - This Stops At the River
Unbroken - Fall on Proverb

Its kinda hard to not do so, considering most songs are 20+ min opuses. There's probably only one or two godspeed songs that hooked me all the way through.

MetalHeadandMusicToo 07-05-2008 07:40 PM

How about Hester Prynn or Legends Never Die, both by As Blood Runs Black?

The second breakdown in Hester Prynn (the song really gets going after the first one) just makes me want to rip something apart.

I agree. Converge is intense in a face smashing way. GY!BE is intense in a holy **** nuclear bomb hold-your-breath and wait for it to pass way.

DarkKaizer 07-14-2008 03:36 PM

Well, I would have to say that most of Serj Tankian's music is pretty intense, and so is SOAD's...

I really like Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition by Serj, but that doesn't seem intense enough for me...

I'd probebly have to say Violent Pornography, Sugar, or Chop Suey by SOAD.

Double X 07-14-2008 04:25 PM

The 5 Dragonforce songs I have are pretty intense. A couple Clash songs are pretty intense as well.

Yeah, Dragonforce is pretty intense, but their live shows suck in my opinion...

I like their songs Cry For Eternity, Soldiers of the Wasteland, and Black Fire.

Also, I rally used to like Through the Fire and Flames, but for some reason it's annoying to me now. :banghead:

spark10036 07-14-2008 04:55 PM

I find "The Noose" by A Perfect Circle very intense...but the most intense I don't know...maybe "Hurt" by NIN?

Oh of course. It's because all they can do is stuff in their studio because they aren't insanely technically skilled. I have a metalhead friend who raves about Dragonforce being overrated, when they aren't even that acclaimed. :yeah:

I think Serj's music is of a very different breed than SOAD, and much more melodic than System. The proprietary driving force in the System career was not Serj, but Daron, who proved he had amazing songwriting skills. I still think their pseudo-double album (Mezmerize/Hypnotize) is one of the best metal albums ever produced, and it was largely at the hands of Daron. I think he may have felt as if the media stripped most of the credit from him and gave it to Serj because of Serj's early influence with the band. That may have led to their hiatus, I don't know. But yes, they have some very intense songs.

I think it's quite clear Daron is the main talent, it's even more obvious on Mezmerise/Hypnotise where he really steps into the limelight. I'm not an enormous fan of Hypnotise but Mezmerise is incredible, really focused songwriting which wants to stretch it's horizons, yet it still all blends together. He's a brilliant musician as well which adds to his credit more.

It's not so clear to most non-fans in the media and on the radio. It's clear to you, me and everyone else that has had even a nominal interest in the band, but a lot of people have misconceptions about Serj's talents. Maybe because he looks so much more the part of a crazy motherf*cker than Daron, I dunno. You won't see a Scars On Broadway album in anybody's top ten list, but Serj has no trouble securing fans.

Really, you didn't enjoy Hypnotize? It may not have had as many singles but it was utterly incredible to hear the mixed harmonies and impressive melodic compositions by Daron. The only song I didn't enjoy completely was Vicinity of Obscenity, and mostly because I didn't understand it. I think Daron gets overlooked sometimes even by people because System was so strange. But that's what was so great about them. I'll always love System, always - no matter how many people resent them for their early cult following.

I don't know, it just didn't catch me in any way really. Mezmerise was like a punch in the gut and this just couldn't compare i guess which is unfortunate. It has some brilliant moments on it though, like one of my favourites by them, Stealing Society. And Vicinity of Obscenity is just insane. I have give credit to a song like that!

drummininthebridge 07-16-2008 11:26 PM

the beginning of entombment of a machine is EXTREMELY INTENSE...but a little less than halfway through it dies out...so ima go with dig by mudvayne...it makes me wana roundhouse kick a poor defenseless dog...and i love dogs...

Jackassinthewill 07-18-2008 06:53 AM

Eyehategod! "Dopesick Jam", especially.
GODFLESH YES WAAAHAAA
Sleep's stuff.
Joy Division, Ian Curtis was an intense dude.
Dimmu Borgir's intense, but kind of annoying for me...
Leonard Cohen's old stuff had a subtle intensity goin' on, very claustrophobic and articulate.
Acid Bath and My Dying Bride, both their catalogs are a tylenol-popping kind of intensity.
Man, there's a lot of ****, really....
And I agree, it's not all about how hard or piercing the sound is, it's about delivery and content, too.

Mentoring For Free 07-19-2008 09:15 PM

"In My Darkest Hour" by Megadeth always felt like the most intense song I've ever heard.

rsnjeff 07-23-2008 01:40 AM

Im going with "Entombment of a Machine" by Job for a Cowboy.

Heavy and fast with freaky lyrics. What else is there?

Music that doesn't suck would be something else. I'd recommend listening to some.

I for one, am hoping it will be part of my top ten list. I've always considered Daron to be the bigger talent and I was happy that he got to shine on Hypnotize/Mesmerize. I'm digging the stuff I've heard so far from Scars on Broadway and looking forward to the album release here next week.

Edit: Absolutely love the song "Dreaming" by SOAD
