Exactly right. The early stuff was more along the lines of extreme metal, Arise on up had more experimental elements, and Roots is nu metal all the way. Those are probably Sepultura's 3 biggest albums right there, none of which really sound totally different from Soulfly. I don't see how anyone could say Sepultura and Soulfly are without similarity.

If you define Sepultura entirely by one release (Roots), than yes, they are similar. If you acknowledge Sepultura's previous discography, not so much.
The only point I was trying to make (which I thought at the time wasn't a big deal) was that the two were not similar enough to use in the same comparison. How can a band be "trying too hard to be" 2 different bands? That's it
