See? You can't comprehend music taste is a subjective opinion and you try to objectively analyze it, so you make yourself look ignorant in front of anybody intelligent.

Now I could start saying how black/death metal is for girly poser pussies who are only good as punching bags for real men but that's already been said and proved

And I'm not here to make you listen to my music, if you wanna be a bitch and listen to bitch **** sure go ahead. I'll be glad to beat up the next poser who starts bothering me.

Dude - it's hard to take you seriously when you make statements like that. I mean, maybe you are making a joke but it doesn't sound like it. You started with the topic of people persecuting each other over their musical choices and now you just sound like one of the persecutors. Where are you going with this? It's not okay to beat the sh*t out of someone because they listen to certain music or wear a certain tee-shirt unless they're a Justin Beeber fan? Teen-age girls with low IQ's need love too...

First of all I was expressing my opinion of something, which I am entitled to do on this forum. The fact that I dislike it does not make me ignorant. Neither did I make any judgement of you because of your enjoyment of that music, something that you I might add have done so.

And threatening to physically attack someone for a differing opinion on a band.
How old are you? 12?

If you can't handle criticism of your favourite band and take every word as a personal attack it does beg the question what on earth you joined a music discussion forum.

Incidental I'm not a poser I say what I like about whatever I like, I don't really care how successful or cool that band might be.

Yup, troll. Probably Fred Durst.

Learn to read. It was a comparison, as in, I've been picked on for wearing band shirts too, except I knew how to handle it better.

Also... "my band"?

Basically, if you don't want people to treat you like a d!ck, you need to stop acting like a d!ck.

I found myself at a Metallica concert some time back (payback to a friend who went to a Ministry concert with me) and, while the band was actually very good, I was amazed at how many young aggressive guys were there, just beating the living sh*t out of each other throughout the entire show.

I've been in my fair share of mosh pits back in the Black Flag days and things could get a little rough, but there was always a spirit of fun and mischief about it too. It was very cathartic and I think it actually served as a release so that we didn't beat the snot out of each other.

The Metallica show was a much heavier, meaner vibe. These guys were there to really put the hurt on each other and some people were getting seriously messed up. This was going on everywhere too, not just in a few isolated spots. My friends, who were huge fans, were down in the crowd and got smashed in the face, got their glasses broken, etc. It was pretty intense.

I don't mean to slag Metallica or Metal fans - I think this could have happened anywhere. Maybe I am just an old fogey now and this is the way things go at live shows, but it certainly wasn't my idea of fun. Really, when I hear stories like this, I don't think it really matters what band you like or whatever. These young guys are wound tighter than a tick and are just looking to put the hurt on someone.

In retrospect, the Ministry crowd was much more civilized...^_^

I know exactly what you're talking about. I remember going to shows when I was younger where the pit consisted of people running around slamming into each other in a way that was fun and rowdy but not with the intention of hurting each other. Every so often there would be some meathead who would get in there and actually hurt people, but everyone hated those guys and considered them the assholes who didn't understand how it was supposed to work. Unfortunately throughout the 90s there seemed to be this shift where the meatheads became more and more common in pits until it got to the point where it now works their way. Sadly, the meatheads have won the pit culture war.

at that time, seriously, dudes and dudettes, i was up to my neck in serious grindcore **** like Napalm Death and Carcass

and ya know, like, these guys eat George ***got Michael for breakfast

ya know what I mean?
