I was born in '94 and the first music I remember from when I was little were the post-grunge bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Third Eye Blind, Goo Goo Dolls, Gin Blossoms, etc.. I like grunge music like Nirvana or Pearl Jam but never really get much further than that. Smashing Pumpkins is still a favorite though, and I thought the last album they put out was fantastic.

It was kind of hard for me to get into the Britpop scene being that I live in the US and didn't grow up hearing those bands, but for a while I was kind of amazed that all these bands (Oasis, Blur, Cast, Pulp, Suede, etc) were popular during my lifetime yet I had never heard of most of them. I was really into that a few years ago just because it was way different than the 90s music I was used to. To this day Oasis is one of my favorite bands xD

In the past year or two I discovered shoegaze and decided I liked bands like My Bloody Valentine and Ride.

And then there's U2, who put out two good albums in the 90s and also random indie bands like Pavement that are a nice listen every once in a while. Can't forget Blind Melon either. Or Radiohead. The list goes on..

Point being, I love 90s music!

Yes those one hit wonders. One headlight, sex and candy, just to name a few. Sorry but todays music has not produced a lot of one hit wonders. Guess its a good thing?

The thing with one hit wonders is you don't know they're one hit wonders until a decade or two has gone by. That's why you're not aware of current ones. By the time the 2030s roll around I guarantee you'll be able to name a bunch of them from the 2010s.

The first one I got was Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. It's a double album, so there are enough songs to listen to if you're trying to get into them. Plus it has some singles on it most people would recognize - Bullet with Butterfly Wings, 1979, Tonight Tonight, Zero - and for me anyways having a few familiar songs on an album helps me get into them more. Some people might say checking out Gish or Siamese Dream first, but I became a fan after my friend burned me a copy of Mellon Collie. Or you could just get the greatest hits album and dig deeper from there. xP
