Bro-step isn't terrible and I don't see how it hurt rock music any more than Pop music has. That is if we are talking about the popularity of the genre.

I can understand why someone would like it so I try not to judge. But yeah, I don't really think it hurt rock in any way.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I always hate trying to defend it because irl people discredit my taste for liking some of it. Most people have stupid reasons for not liking the genre.

I never understood the whole discrediting someone's taste in something (like music). It's like someone discrediting your wanting to eat anchovies on your pizza. It's a matter of taste, so criticism is irrelevant.

How does a non-rock genre hurt rock? Economically perhaps, but that's just what happens when time passes. Now melodic metalcore hurt rock, or at least a sub-section of it. Metalcore was awesome until everyone started ripping off Killswitch Engage, and now most of the bands who'll touch the genre with a ten-foot pole are ****.

Honestly, I just get sick of the many people I know who listen strictly to it and equate it solely with electronic. I have less of a problem with the music itself, and I generally like those people (not for their taste) but I don't go and upright discredit them for it either. If they want to listen to it, fine. Taste is just that.

Tell me about it. It ruined Warped Tour too. I would have loved to go in the late 90's/early 2000's, but after UnderOATH became the poster child, it all went downhill. Granted, there have always been less than par artists playing, but it was always balanced by the sheer volume of neat-o punk groups. Now, not so much. A few good ones in between but nothing I wouldn't catch at a better festival.

Really? I always associated Warped Tour with pop punk bands like Blink 182.

I mean, yeah it did feature pop punk groups (well, more along the skate punk side, and I'm not inclined to hate Blink either) but it also featured a few hardcore, melodic hardcore, and post-hardcore groups like Hot Water Music, The Unseen, Bad Religion, and Lifetime. It wasn't the best punk showcase (that would be, The Fest) but if you're into skate punk that was the place to go.
