okay, I exagerreted..Sue me!! lol..Okay it's better than the majority of mainstream teen stuff e.g Busted, Mcfly, Greenday, Sum 41, etc maybe even the Killers..I mean there are some decent bands around..like Razorlight, or Kings of leon, the darkness..I mean I can't stand all this coldplay and keane kind of music, it's just so boring..I don't mind bands like Nightwish but the majority of them are just terrible..Nu-metal sucks..I like a few other bands at the mo too..Dead 60's, Hot, Hot heat as well, Incubus' new single is good, Tony Immoi's new albums class, I like Finch too..vendetta red and life of agony are decent too..

[QUOTE=deadkennedysmeetstheclash]Van halen basiclaly invented hammering on a guitar, he could hammer like no other. [QUOTE] I thought this too! But apparently he wasn't the first... It was Johny Cash believe it or not. It was then picked up by Jango Rinehart (Most amazing guitarist, TWO fingers and rated second to hendrix). Then we heard Van Halen breaking out in songs which I believe are truely awesome, such as Eruption (which I've just been told was origanlly taken from Eddy Van Halen WARMING UP as opposed to a written song!!)

Satch is awesome at this as well (you would have known that), sometimes he taps one two strings at a time, and he gets some wicked sounds. I was wondering if anyone knows what kinda Humbuckers he would have - EMG?.

To Urban_Hatesomething, I still think your 40, and props to you for reading - who cares? You were right, I was wrong, I explained myself, I also told you I think your 40 because you do know your **** and your probably 40. If your not 40 youve had a cool upbringing cause Ive never got exposure to all the metals :( I grew up with Paul Kelly, Beatles, travelling Wilburys, foreigner, if that gives you any Idea. I have no complaints about those previous artists and the like, it will still stay with me forever, but Ive just turned into a metal head in my teens :P

I havent really heard much of busted, their vocalist irritates me a bit, his voice is fine its just not suited to the tone color of the songs they play I reckon. I enjoy listening to the likes of Greenday and The Killers, and I have a decent musical sense - ( I think... I can't take hip hop)

shapiro 07-15-2005 09:08 AM

This was a hard one for me, but i'm gonna go with Preist on this one.

1337 Sam 07-15-2005 09:13 AM

Priest.

stormy316 07-15-2005 02:43 PM

Thank you, but the true master of the two handed tapping technique will always be Jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan.

Oh, and Satriani's pickups are:
Bridge - DiMarzio Custom PAF Joe
Neck - DiMarzio FRED
Neither of which are active pickups

judas_priest 07-15-2005 03:26 PM

I like both, but Priest r better.

And still rockin. Wanna go out?

Thanks for the info Satchmo, I have a 30 year old les paul copy I need to do up :P Have you ever heard of a brand called "Emperador" ? They seem to be a phantom company, its a really nice guitar. I got it for $200 so I have no idea of its original price.

Dude, that is like ****sack religion to choose one of those.

DeeDee1977 06-30-2012 05:38 PM

Two of my favorite bands but I have to go with Judas Priest. My first concert was seeing them on the Painkiller tour with Testament & Megadeth.

Howard the Duck 07-01-2012 12:26 AM

this is a response to the OP

it's like choosing which side of my head that I prefer

no choice for me

gazzaguitar 07-03-2012 06:09 AM

100% Maiden.

Necromancer 08-24-2012 09:37 AM

Judas Priest are one of the original innovators of metal, I would personally prefer Pantera over Maiden, Megadeath, or any of the top 5 thrash/metal bands from that particular era/style.

mr dave 08-26-2012 07:16 AM

I don't dislike any of the Judas Priest I've heard, but it doesn't affect me nearly as much as all the Iron Maiden I've heard.

So it's Maiden by an order of magnitude in my book.

Maiden by a mile for me (What a surprise, for someone who reviewed "Number of the Beast" as one of the "Albums that changed my life"!) --- first metal band I ever got into, always loved them, always will. Opened up a whole new world for me too. Plus they don't only sing about often standard rock/metal subjects. Like many metal bands they're open to deep lyrics and thoughtful compositions.

And I know this sounds shallow and stupid, and is, but back when I was getting into metal the fact that Halford had SHORT hair always turned me away from Priest, and I never sampled them. Still haven't. Just never went away. First impressions, y'know?

Sharkie 03-27-2013 09:04 PM

Both Legendary bands. But If I had to choose, and it's hard. Iron Maiden.

Bharris16 04-03-2013 07:59 AM

Iron Maiden on all counts - Better music, better musicians, better shows and they have Eddie. Not that I would ever knock Priest, 'Painkiller' is one of the best metal albums (in my humble opinion.

Isbjørn 04-03-2013 08:51 AM

Iron Maiden. They were the first metal band I really got into, and Eddie is much cooler than anything Judas Priest could cook up.

Norg 04-04-2013 02:23 PM

Imma go with Judas

XtremeEclectic 04-04-2013 03:28 PM

Throwing the vote in for Iron Maiden

bernard666 04-04-2013 08:14 PM

iron!

Scarlett O'Hara 04-04-2013 08:27 PM

Priest, obviously. I know Batlord will claim blasphomy but if I have to choose...

Paul Smeenus 04-04-2013 08:34 PM

Are we talking Dickenson Maiden or Di'Anno Maiden

Well anybody that has actually followed Metal through the years instantly feel the same way about Priest. Hell, they electrified the whole scene by bringing the metal sound (guitars) to the mainstream, from Heavy Metal to Metal. They should be like God to anyone who claims to be a real Metal Head.

Besides, when a man and a woman both agree with the same thing?

There has to be something to it. :)

As much as I love Priest, they just can't touch Maiden. Priest were great at what they did, which was play archetypal heavy metal, but Maiden are in a league of their own.

I thought you would say that. I do admit Iron Maiden are different from Judas Priest, I think there was more emotions in Maidens work.
