Default Blood Ceremony

Bloody Ceremony hailing from Toronto formed in 2006 this female fronted doom metal/rock band has made three full lengths all of which have been fairly successful. The self titled debut is probably my personal favorite. This band is in the mold of the new retro bands that sound straight out of the 70s, but unlike many of these they manage to convince you they actually love the music and aren't simply a cover band. This band might draw a comparison or two to Jethro Tull due to the usage of a flute. Which works surprisingly well, in my opinion, with the bands usage of slow rif***e. Normally female vocalists are just hit or miss for me, and I guess this is no exception, but I really do think it works here.

TL;DR?

Black Sabbath riffs + female vocals + flute + occult themes = Blood Ceremony. haha.

I'm generally hit or miss on something like a flute in this type of music, but these guys, and girl, make it work really well. Surprisingly.

I don't have anything to recommend that's got a flute, but I can always shoot you some of these type bands if you're interested. Shoot me a message or whatever.

Blood Ceremony is great! I actually came across them when I got into Jex Thoth. You might wanna give them a try too, similar stoner 70s-inspired female-fronted rock stuff. I think Jex Thoth has that dirty production down a bit better, which is a personal preference, but they're VERY similar.

Off their debut. Newest album is less doom but more experimental, you'll like it if you don't dig this.

Also, welcome to the forum!

Yeah I love that Jex Thoth self titled album. I have not checked out the new one yet, so I can't speak for it but the first one is certainly a fun listen. I'm actually into a number of these retro bands which get a lot of hate from many people for some reason. Cool to see another fan though!

And thanks for the welcome.

Great band. I especially like Living with the Ancients. The flute isnt just shoehorned into the music but feels very organic. Very nice stuff and I'd love to see them live. Evaded me so far.
