His newer stuff with Balázs Pándi is very death metal.

I think I can go for that again. Not that I enjoyed in the least being transformed into a sexy woman. Oh no. Not one bit. That part was terrible. It was. Really. Terrible.

Incidentally, you don't have to torture alone. As I said, anyone else who thinks they have what it takes to reduce me to my component parts have at it, just two criteria: go through Batty and make sure the music is metal of some sort. I don' wanna hear no thirty-six hour jazz composition, you know!

In fact, **** it: up to you. You want guest torturers in there next year, you go interview, pick and train 'em.

Hmm. Perhaps this could be a new journal ... oh for god's sake no! I have enough already going on! Don't I...?

This Metal Month was really well done, TH. I think the best part of it was the albums you listened to from recommendations from other members. Definitely looking forward to next year and so on.

Thanks man. That really means a lot.
As I said, when I conceived the idea originally --- was supposed to be just a week but then I extended it, realising there was so much more I could do in a month --- it was a little all over the place. Album reviews mostly, in no real order and just with an eye to trying to satisfy most/all tastes and break away from my usual metal boundaries, and also to try to forestall any protests that I had "just done the metal I like" from a certain person connected with flying mice...

This year I wanted to put more structure on it, and though it still was a little loose I think it worked better. Certainly, those who had read the first Metal Month seemed interested and there was a good deal of debate. The recommended albums and the top tens were great for me, as they really exposed me to music I would otherwise not have heard or even considered listening to. Some I liked, some I did not, but I listened to all. So that's a result.

My only disappointment was that not enough people got involved on the writing side. I had really hoped more members would put pen to paper and either do a guest review or write for "What Metal means to me", but I only had the one submission, that from Briks. Still, it did spur Janszoon to try NWOBHM-style metal, so that was good.

Here's hoping for a really amazing Metal Month III.
Thanks again!

Yeah man, no problem. It was a little late in the month, but I was going to include some metal month-esque posts in my journal, but I got lazy and didn't bother. I have been wanting to do a sort of metal only category to allow for it. I don't know if its the same with other people, but when I recommend an album to someone, I love seeing their opinions on an album that I like. Probably why I liked that section so much. I would've written something for the guest review thing if I even knew that was a thing.

Well I did announce it here, before the "show" and also in the contents section, but no matter. At least you have plenty of notice to be able to write something for next year!
