Oh, of course. I was just referencing Kurt's "I basically ripped off The Pixies" quote. Weezer's done the same thing, Pavement and Metallica were huge influences on Cuomo. |

What's the difference between Metallica & Weezer?

And if I cared about a musicians personality I would have to cull half my collection. |

I think I did a bad job of being a smartass, I love both bands. That Kurt quote just comes to mind every time people discuss Nirvana. Like I said, Cuomo's mentioned before how he had Metallica in mind when writing Undone - The Sweater Song, too. |
Oh its a fair point, certainly a huge Pixies influence. Weezer has just never done much for me althogh I do own the blue album and have played say it aint so and hashpipe live many times. I do think Cuomo is a talented song writer.

Nirvana are Weezer. Kurt was Rivers Cuomo with a wig.

I've never heard of Weezer before :/
|
The main difference to me is that they play 2 different styles of music, i can't think of a weezer song that sounds like Nirvana, to me they sound more like the pixies, i mean 'i bleed' is basically 'the sweater song' with a few tweaks
Still, it doesn't mean Weezer was just rip off of the pixies they had their own originality to them, same as nirvana, both bands are 2 different from each other, Nirvana is more like an overproduced garage grunge band and Weezer is more like a college band that are polished musicians but play stupid songs. I think Kurt was a better Artist but Rivers is a better musician cause if you measure both bands by their guitars and song arrangements, Weezer is actually better, they have better backup vocals, better guitars, better solos but NOT better drums, Nirvana had better drumming with dave and a more genuine angst with their music and a better developed signature sound. I luv both bands but i think there is little comparison between the 2 |
