For extreme historical signifigance I'd have to say:
Chuck Berry
Link Wray (one Fücking lung and basicaly invented the power chord)

For my personal hero who may not have had as much Historical Impact other than...oh wait being THE GODFATHER OF PUNK:
Iggy Pop

I realise this is supposed to be just one hero but I couldn't do it.
