How come you chose Celtic Frost over Katatonia?

My main problem with Monotheist is that there's no break. The album is almost constant heaviness, which I personally find lacking in creativity. Brave Murder Day is much lighter and easier on the ears, but there's also more variety with Katatonia. There's a bit of heaviness and a bit of lightness here and there, and the way it's spaced works perfectly in my opinion.
So did you not make it past the first two songs?

This song is definitely still heavy to my ears.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

But you don't find it at all a change of pace from the beginning of the album? And calling Celtic Frost uncreative is ridiculous. They were one of the pioneering bands in experimental metal.

From their early days inventing black metal in 1983 as Hellhammer.

To their first stirrings of something more with their first album as Celtic Frost 184.

Onto their leap forward with their second full-length in 1985.

And then a couple years later...

Reverend Bizarre
Celtic Frost
My Dying Bride
Candlemass

And the last one was hard again. I decided to give Skepticism a second chance, and was surprised how beautifully the distorted guitar and clean keys work together. This was really hard, but for whatever reason, Candlemass sounded really bland to me, so it's gonna get kicked out.

-snip-
First off, we're talking about the album, not the band's entire career. I don't think the band isn't creative, I think the album isn't.

Second, it is a bit of a change of pace, but it's only for one song, and it's not drastically different.

Third, I'm not extremely turned off by the album. I think it's really good, but I have to find something wrong with it, just to figure out where it stands versus the other albums. No offense towards you or your musical tastes.

But it's totally different, sounding nothing like the first two songs. I don't get how you can compare them.
