Just because something defines a genre, doesn't mean it's the best.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

... Unless it's the progenitor of glam being compared to Def Leppard, in which case the former is better by a huge margin.

Never said it did. Some guy just said Motley weren't glam, so I had to drop some knowledge. Shout at the Devil is better than Pyromania purely because of quality.

OK then... if Motley Crue are glam metal, what is Alice Cooper?

Alice started as Glam Rock and Hard Rock. Glam Rock and Glam Metal/Hair Metal have their similarities, but they're two distinct genres.

Alice Cooper's first two albums are a combination of hard rock and psychedelic rock and because they didn't sell, the band adopted a more shock rock approach for their breakthrough album Love it to Death.

Alice Cooper both the band and the singer were glam and along with Kiss and Aerosmith they were amongst the biggest influences on 80s glam metal, of which Motley Crue were one of the vital bands of that style.

That's basically what I said. Alice was Hard/Glam Rock, though I admit I didn't mention his psych side.

I know Glam Metal was influenced by Glam Rock. No shit. I didn't even mention whether Motley Crue were influenced by Glam Rock or not, and I feel like you're just assuming that I don't understand where they got their style from. All I said was that Glam Rock and Glam Metal are two different genres, which they totally are, influences aside. In the same way, Chuck Berry was influential on what would become Hard Rock, and that should be recognized, but I wouldn't put him in the Hard Rock genre.
