I mentioned it in another thread, but as a half-jokey Christmas present to a dorky friend at work who listens to Mudvayne, Disturbed, Slipknot, and other assorted ****ty metal bands from when he was in high school back in the early/mid-'00s, I have burned five mixed CDs of actual good metal to educate him in True Metal Elitism.

One of them is a metalcore CD and I'd like to get your (i.e. Mondo's opinion) of my choices...

Metalcore that Is Infinitely Superior to God Damn Killswitch Fucking Engage

1. Homewrecker - "Wreck" (not the best band, but this intro to their Worms and Dirt album is pretty much the best intro to a metal album of all-time, including Hell Awaits)
2. Converge - "Concubine"
3. Poison the Well - "12/23/1993"
4. Arkangel - "From Heaven We Fall"
5. Deadguy - "Doom Patrol"
6. Zao - "Ravage Ritual"
7. Earth Crisis - "Forced March"
8. Norma Jean - "Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste" (I know I told Mondo I didn't really like these guys, but now I'm totally sold)
9. Reprisal - "War for Refoundation" (for anyone who has been converted to Arkangel through me, you desperately need to check Reprisal out, as they are similar and second only to Arkangel in that particular form of thrashy metalcore)
10. Converge - "Distance and Meaning" (cause "Concubine" is a necessary opener, but too short to do justice to the band's diversity and awesomeness)
11. Ringworm - "Hammer of the Witch"
12. Snapcase - "Caboose"
13. Stampin' Ground - "Officer Down"
14. Unbroken - "End of a Lifetime"
15. Nostromo - "Rude Awakening"
16. Undying - "Teratisms"
17. Integrity - "Taste My Sin"
18. Catharsis - "Panoptikon" ( song title not misspelled)
19. Kickback - "Heaven and Hell"
20. Yakuza - "Cancer of Industry"
21. Between the Buried and Me - "Informal Gluttony"

Whether or not he likes a single band on this bitch, he better appreciate the time and effort I spent choosing, burning, and writing down the track-listing to five mixed CDs. On the plus-side, I've discovered that making mixed CDs for other people is a blast.

P.S. From the Dying Sky are awesome. Too bad they only ever released a singly EP.
