Underoath

anyone going to see them and/or like them in here?? :)

ally 08-28-2004 10:27 PM

i havent seen them but underoath is AMAZING

David Frost 08-28-2004 11:30 PM

i dont like them that much. there are so many other bands with keyboards that rock. the locust, camera obscura, and many others

riseagainstrocks 08-29-2004 02:44 PM

I like them alot. Young And Aspiring, When The Sun Sleeps, Heart Of Stone...ah such classics. they used to be extremly heavy like 2 minute long breakdowns heavy but they've lightened up a bit which is a better style for them. They are amazing live, like you wouldn't believe. One of the best groups I've seen live. Right up there with Comeback Kid and In Flames for their live show. Amazing energy and they sound so good live too. Great Christian band as well.

The new cd define the great line leaked and it sounds pretty good. Defenitely harder than some of their music, sounds like they are going a bit back to their cores.

Anyway I might yousendit a little later.

hxxp://www.hxcmp3.com/play.php?band_id=27951&song_id=87849&mode=song_hif i

That should work for one of the songs. You can give it a check and listen. Change them x's to t's though. or just the first two x's.

riseagainstrocks 03-25-2006 05:54 PM

I heard the whole thing. It's heavier then They're Only Chasing Safety, but the songwriting has suffered a bit. Still it's refreshing to hear a "deep" scream from them.

IamAlejo 03-25-2006 06:07 PM

Yeah i have the whole thing if any one else is interested. The last song is cutoff, but other than that it's complete. Agreed with RAR above though.

And the more I listen the more it sounds exactly like every time i die.

sleepy jack 03-26-2006 03:09 PM

I'm interested in it, and if it sounds like every time I die im cool with that, I really like 'em.

EDIT: Alejo sent me it, i've listened to it twice now, i'm liking it.

one_more_atrocity 03-30-2006 01:20 AM

claudioismybitch 03-30-2006 04:49 PM

they've lightened up so much tho, back in the day, they were what emo hardcore used to be. my best friend also on this site hates them but raised her eye brows in suprise and approval at an older song. can't remember which one. she being a metal head and only liking bullet for my valentine in the screamo catagory.

They we're metalcore when they first started, I don't think they we're ever once emo/screamo.

They seem screamo to me. And honestly, I really dont care who thinks what is emo. If I want to call a band emo, I'll call them ****ing emo. I just dont want to hear the ****ing arguements that you all have over what is "emo" enough to be called "emo". Whatever. I don't even like it and you dragged me in.

I can say the south won the civil war, does that make me right?

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-31-2006 10:43 AM

If Underoath is screamo, that means we can all have slaves! WOOOOOOOO!

I'm just so tired of the "emo wars." Underoath started out pretty emo. Hardcore guitar and deep, love-lost lyrics, what more do you guys want?

i don't remember it was before school, and your face showed some enjoyment get over it bitch.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-31-2006 11:28 AM

They were a Christian metalcore band when they started out, and now they are lame post-hardcore.

Hey, I thought you we're "didn't care what emo was" and you "just dont want to hear the ****ing arguements that you all have over what is "emo" enough to be called "emo". Whatever"? So you're replying anyway? Ignorant and a hypocrite!

Newest CD? Do you realize they have two CDs since that one? and Progressive screamo? How is it progressive screamo? I love the album, but its post-hardcore.

i didn't mean that they were from the new cd nessecarily(wrong speeling, sorry very tired) but thats more of the example of their newer stuff, and i mentioned those songs b/c they're some of my favs and wanted to share the joy of them. thats all i meant by it.

xfourstarfailurex 04-12-2006 08:16 PM

THANK GOD! theor last cd "Theyre only chasing saftey" sounds like complete ****ing ****,
please do us all a favor and get rid of that new guy and bring back Dallas

My.Heart.Your.Hands 05-09-2006 05:45 PM

Bleh~ I like Underoath too. I don't mind if they are screamo or hxc or post-hardcore or metalcore or christian or indie or emo or whatever, I like underoath anyways ^_^

[yeah, i'm new in this forum so i'm posting everywhere xD]

holdyoualways 05-10-2006 07:50 AM

i have the changing of times & theyre only chasing safety
i havent gotten a chance to listen to times yet but the newer album is very good
theyre coming out with a new album sometime in july or something right?
ill be getting that too

A_Perfect_Sonnet 05-10-2006 01:51 PM

The newest UnderOATH seems to be back on track. Spencer's scream is better and the band got away from pop-punk songs, back into metalcore. The point is that the new cd is heavier, more dynamic, and just a hundred times better than TOCS. Perhaps they were unsure what direction they wanted to take with all the new members, and that's why the last album blew?

draxus 05-10-2006 02:35 PM

I liked Ther'ye only Chasing Safety. i agree that their new one is a lot heavier, but i dont like too heavy.

That is true. im a little tired of all the high pitched screaming on that album. the music is definetly better with a good low pitched, heavy growl. it just backs it up so much better. good job overall though.

Jonny Sniper 06-05-2006 12:29 PM

I've only heard 'writing on the wall' off their new album, and it does seem heavier, and the screaming seems to be more growly than 'they're only chasing saftey' but i think it suits. especially the part in writing on the wall, where it says 'we walk alone' i think that metal style scream suits it well. I like all of the stuff i've heard, and from that tune, i think they're latest album will be good too.

Trauma 06-05-2006 01:37 PM

I thought they were going back to their roots but I don't know.
It's a tossup because of Salmarnir or whatever.
Remove keyboards dammit.
And seriously, where the **** did Dallas Taylor go?
That aside, I wish they would go back to the metal.
Spencer could handle it.
But they're much too popular to do that now.
Define the Great Line sounds a little more alternative rock with hints of nu-emo strewn throughout.
AofD and CofP were great, CofTimes not so great.
And TOCS, well, sucked.
Just my opinion.

Define The Great Line comes out in only 2 days, unless you're one of the people who got an unmastered copy a while back. I'm so excited for this cd, everyone that got an unmastered copy said it's way better than We're Only Chasing Safety which I liked quite a bit. Check out their purevolume http://www.purevolume.com/underoath to hear some of the songs that will be on the new album.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 06-18-2006 03:27 PM

I agree it's a lot better than the last album, which was total crap in my opinion. Though it isn't old UnderOATH, it shows a growth in the new members, and sounds excellent.

DepthsOfDreams 06-21-2006 08:49 AM

The last album was called They're Only Chasing Safety, and I did like it but they were getting way too poppy and trying to hold there ground as a hardcore band. They have been changing their sound too much, but now I like the direction they went in with this new album. I realize they have had a lot of line-up changes but I really like what they got out of this album. It's a solid album.

The Dave 06-21-2006 08:51 AM

This album is ****ing great. I got it yesterday and listened through it atleast 3 times, it's so awesome, a lot heavier then their previous album and it's very awesome.

DepthsOfDreams 06-21-2006 08:54 AM

I think my favorite song is A Moment Suspended In Time, I don't like how they used that one song as just a Psalm read in Russian that was stupid. Yea it is a lot heavier and they have some sweet breakdowns on this album.

The Dave 06-21-2006 09:00 AM

I liked the Russian part, meh, to each his own. The breakdowns are great, I think they repeated the same a couple of times though. My favorite song is probably You're Ever So Inviting, either that one or Everyone Looks So Good From Here.
