You mean the pop rock battle? That album is about as poppy as an album can get. But I believe it's not a pop album.

OK, if you meant the prog battle, are you seriously putting Thriller in the same argument about prog? And thus suggesting Kansas is as prog as Thriller? Sure, Leftoverture is a little radio-friendly, but it's proggy as well. Mostly Magnum Opus.

Well, it was an analogy, you see, so the situations aren't exactly identical. I was pointing out how your justification of the album by its popularity isn't the sole determining factor for something to be included. What it boils down to is that Tubular Bells is a better fit.

Maybe. I don't care which one leaves. I've heard some of Oldfield's songs, but I'll play Tubular Bells today.
So, are we just going to use this thread to discuss mistakes in the lists.

About the grunge battle, I don't know if Love Battery's Dayglo really counts as grunge, but they're from the scene and considered grunge by a lot of people, and if Pearl Jam and STP are in the battle, then I'd say Love Battery are close enough. And Dayglo is better than most of those albums. I know we've had this discussion, but I still say that Pearl Jam could be moved to post-grunge, which would open up a spot for Love Battery, and allow us to boot Nickelback, cause why the **** is Nickelback even allowed in this thread?

Oh, and I think I'm gonna have to use my Wild Card slot for Flipper's Generic Flipper (or it could replace something in Noise Rock.)

Also...

Jesus and the Mary Chain's Psychocandy needs to replace an album, either in Indie or Alternative Rock.

There are two Who albums in Hard Rock. Don't care which one gets the boot, but Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak or UFO's Lights Out would be good replacements.

And I'd think that Clutch's Blast Tyrant would be better for Stoner Rock.

I agree that Psychocandy should be here. If in alternative rock, it'll be hard to decide on an album it could replace.

I've heard most of these. This is a damn good list. I suppose In Utero. I always felt it didn't reach the same alternative sound Nevermind had. It felt more like a Noise Rock album to me. Maybe not. But Californication should be replaced with Blood Sugar Sex Magic, which is better. If not, I can put up a funk rock or a rap rock list.

Also, about noise rock... WHY IS THERE NO SONIC YOUTH? I'm not a fan, but they are practically the definitive noise rock band based on what I've seen. I suggest Sister gets put in replacing another album. I don't care which one it replaces.

They're a pretty good noise rock band but I wouldn't call them definitive. I suppose they can replace White Suns (even though Totem beats Sonic Youth's whole discography).

One more thing. Would people agree Cure for Pain by Morphine is more worthy of the jazz-rock spot than Yes by Morphine?
