I don't understand you people. This is better than anything on st. Anger or reload, possibly combined.

Just listen to "Lords of summer" then listen to the new one, and it's like a breath of fresh air.

Considering Hardwired is just the intro track, I think we'll have much better album than what is expected.

Ain't my bitch is a silly song (and so is 2X4), but most of Load is really good. After the first 3 tracks, ReLoad becomes a great album, pretty much. I Disappear was a really cool song too and I've always been very disappointed that St. Anger did not continue in that style. I even like some things on St. Anger better than Hardwired. About half the album is really bad, but there's a few songs I'd like if they lost a minute or two of weight. Death Magnetic simply bored me to tears. Lulu was awesome because I've never laughed so hard. Not sure that's what they inteded though.

Lords of Summer is their worst song ever and Hardwired is boring, but I like that it has much better sound quality than anything on DM.

Yeah I'm hoping for that. There's gonna be something interesting, somewhere among those 76 remaining minutes.

Songs from St. Anger that are better than "Hardwired"...

Going through those songs again after all this time I actually like them better than I remember. Granted, I didn't listen to them all the way through so they're probably still too damn long.

With a bit of editing those could actually be top shelf Metallica. If they'd had more restraint that album probably would have done a lot better and they wouldn't have felt the need to backtrack and make boring mediocrity like Death Magnetic.

I edited one of the songs off the album in Audacity some years ago, boosting the bass, shaving off redundant parts. There really is a good album hidden in there. These songs sound heavier and more menacing than I remember too. Hardwired is a domesticated lapdog in comparison.

I don't know what they actually had in their heads when they made Death Magnetic, but I always felt it was an apology album. A way of meeting their fans halfway, which is probably why it's so bland.
