It's not. If Manowar fit the bill it'd be that much easier and there'd be one more cool band I can listen to, instead of a boring band that people on a forum I frequent are mad about for some reason.

The "epic" sound is precisely the opposite of that. They do that **** a lot so they are anti-epic.
