Thoughts on Noel Gallagher

Man, I wonder how Noel Gallagher sleeps at night knowing that he wrote Wonderwall. Imagine being the ******* that wrote that song, and then you have to play that song in front of 50,000 people every night.

Marie Monday 05-19-2021 12:56 PM

totally, writing Wonderwall should have been a capital offence. he's quite a funny guy though honestly

Nowhere near as as good as Rory.

Don't look back in anger at a song written over 25 years ago.

I don't believe that anybody feels the way he does about Noel Gallagher now.

SnakeSpiritDude 05-20-2021 08:56 AM

I bet he likes the house it bought him

SGR 05-20-2021 10:12 AM

Who the **** wants to hear Noel Gallagher sing Wonderwall? It would be like hearing Ringo Starr sing Imagine.

I rest my case:

DianneW 05-20-2021 10:34 AM

I enjoyed this immensely.. a Fan of James Bay and thought Noel was impressed with his version...

TheBig3 06-18-2021 09:40 AM

I mean I think he's a legend but this is a small dose of why I think we need more of him. Jump to the 2:13 mark.

jadis 06-18-2021 12:25 PM

There's a great quote about Oasis from Robert Smith I can't find right now, where he says that while lager, football and having a big mouth are three things he enjoys very much, there's more to life than this.

If there is, I don't think he's found it.

The Batlord 06-18-2021 12:45 PM

He looks like the Joker's racist uncle.

jadis 06-18-2021 12:54 PM

He hasn't aged well physically and should've called it quits ages ago, yes.

But in that quotation, which I sadly can't find, he was referring to the limitations of UK's "lad culture" and to Oasis being its figureheads. That I find hard to argue with although to each one's own obv.

The Batlord 06-18-2021 01:01 PM

My impression of UK lad culture is that it's much like American good ol' boy culture but without the history of the KKK to make it seem more explicitly sinister.

jadis 06-18-2021 01:10 PM

The whole "lad culture" thing is pretty specific to the Thatcher/New Labour era, I'd look at that context first before drawing comparisons to the US.

Your Wrong, Liam is a really solid Guy these days..Read the rubbish put out and we are all low lives....we know we are not....media is out of control with truthful news...sad but true..

Just wish to say in defence... The Media which has so much influence on all of us.... tries to rules us in our every breath, that most stuff put out is to make somebody a lot of dosh....we are mere just nothing if you let that take you in.....most people seem to believe bad of people because of that...when in truth we are all mostly really people with good hearts....including without any doubt Liam......

Is that why Liam tried to whack Noel with his guitar?

Liam certainly gives off an aroma of aggression and arrogance but in truth his music tells you a different story. We all need to look at the bigger picture and not judge so easily the cover. Certain times I have felt like killing someone but that is just exactly how I am not.

DianneW 06-18-2021 11:10 PM

Just Liam...

What kind of ****ing moron thinks everything about a person makes them out to be an ******* except that they wrote "Wonderwall"?

DianneW 06-18-2021 11:14 PM

This is a Banter Forum and anyone can have an opinion as long as it is not abusive or obscene.

https://www.rts.ch/info/culture/musi...ur-doasis.html

Will not be posting much on Liam but he deserves some airing right now. It just shows how even somebody with his very bad boy reputation can turn his life around, mainly through falling love and having a family life, but his music is still his backbone in his life.

The Batlord 06-18-2021 11:35 PM

You think I can't be obscene? There is a warehouse full of cornholed children to disagree with you.

DianneW 06-19-2021 04:59 AM

This is Noel talking about the changes in his songwriting over the last decade.
Lots of interesting talk about his music and his personality which also affects his music styles....

Don't Look Back In Anger, Fame

Noel's reaction to James Bay singing his song....

That sums up mostly, all that I think about Noel Gallagher

BluesFella 07-01-2021 03:13 PM

I like the song, just heard it too many times. Decent tune that's a victim of its own success imo.

Loved his first two solo albums, his third one, not so much.

Found it. From a 2000 interview.

Q: I don't know if you'll see this as a compliment or an insult, but I think there's a lot of parallels between Oasis and The Cure. You share that heavy wall of sound in some songs. The difference is that Oasis only seems to be one of the colors of the rainbow of the Cure.

Robert Smith: I think the group sound of Oasis is great, but I dislike most of their songs. I saw them live and I was impressed by their sound and Liam's voice, but all that bull**** around, like the whole feud with Blur... I'm happy we didn't waste time and energy with such nonsense... If there is a connection between The Cure and Oasis, it's that we're both huge Beatles fans. The difference is that that doesn't show in The Cure's music. My biggest problem with Oasis is that they belong to the lads culture in England, and that is very restricting: it's only about beer, soccer and having a big mouth. Now, that's three things that I like too, but the difference is that I know there's other fun things in the world. I predict Noel will soon tear loose from these supporters, and start a solo career, like Paul Weller blew up The Jam.

Thanks for that. Interestingly, I think this shows that Robert Smith holds Noel in pretty high esteem. In retrospect, we can tell that his solo career didn't really blow up, and the Gallaghers are both better off together, in terms of success and popularity.

You don't think so? I kinda like Noel's last album.

Wasn't it down to one Rolling Stone review, which put them under enormous pressure and derailed their entire career?

DianneW 08-03-2021 09:05 AM

Liam is doing ok again...Almost has a sweetness about him.

Always going to see the Gallaghers as Oasis though...

TheBig3 09-26-2021 09:42 PM

That version of Hello is the best one they have. They should have released that Unplugged album.
