Well thats why i think it should have its own forum, i mean your arguement here could be used on anything, rock n roll was a mix of blues, folk, jazz and country. So does that mean the rock forum should be moved to the blues and jazz forum? Punk and Alternative are rock styles and they have their own forum, shouldnt they just be a sub-forum to the rock forum? Rap is just like prog in that it has spawned from many diverse genres of music, we are talking rock, reggae, blues, jazz, funk, soul, etc. All the genres in the world would trace back to just classical and folk, so maybe all the forums here except the classical forum should be made into sub-forums for the folk forum, since it all goes back to folk. So i dont really see where you are coming from.

However i will do anything to see that prog gets a forum of some kind, if its only a sub-forum to the rock forum, then so be it.

you have a point but the the rap, rock, punk/alt genres have all blended sub-genres to create a very instantly recognisable, set sound of their own. the prog sub-genre to me just doesnt have that set, instantly recognisable sound to it. but as i said im all for a prog sub-forum anywhere as i love it.

I think its sound is quite distinguished, sure it comes in many different shapes and sizes, but so does metal, prog has many sub-genres, it was huge in the 70s, and it still has a very loyal following today.

We don't have enough music-savvy members for any more forums to be successful. Take a look at the ladder 6 music forums. And, about 8 of the 14 available music forums are pretttty dead. It's because people are too busy obsessing over the same five bands in the rock and emo forums. Making threads in wrong places is just as effective. You'll see eventually.

Well, i think everyone here is underestimating the popularity of prog, if i were to mod the forum or sub-forum i would keep trolls out, and if someone makes a simple plan thread i will lock it. I have faith that the forum will gain a following, i'll spread the word out, i'll even invite some friends of mine. If you build it, they will come.

Hahaha. Well if you're going to be inviting friends, find some that listen to soul, ska, reggae, indie rock, 1980s hardcore punk, and electro/synth pop and tell them to HOLLA at MB.

The Prog Forum, The New Folk Forum.

No I don't think it would work, though if I remember correctly you vetoed the split of the rock and metal forums and if thats the case I find this kind of amusing.

I don't think it will be particularly active. There's times that even this forum is rather thin on topics/replies...

Well, maybe it will attract more members, who arent interested in the usual topics of this emo band and that emo band, some of my prog nerd friends are looking for a good forum to post on.
