Yeah you might be right, but I've seen what happens when you let the Beatles v. Stones argument go. Thats why I made a thread stating to not do that specifically.

Fair enough, it is a worn out debate.

Think it`s worth pointing out that the Brian Jones era Stones were very different from the Mick Taylor (or post Brian) version.
Around the time of "Sticky Fingers" (which is a great album) they evolved into perhaps the first modern era rock-as opposed to pop-band.
And much as I love The Beatles, if you don`t love, I mean really love the Stones, then maybe Rock music just isn`t for you.

I think they'd be alot more influential amongst guitarist if Keef didn't use so many open tunings. Most songs rock songs are in the standard EADGBE tuning, but Keith Richards seems to use a different tuning for every song.

Out of all of the post-Exile albums, Some Girls is the one I go for. They were up for the challenge of the changing scene.

F***, I love The Stones.
Saw them first in 74-the next time was in 99.
The gig in 99 just shades it.

Default All Those Songs The Stones Left Off Exile....

After listening to all the songs that the Stones left off Exile in my opinion some of them were better then the finished product. What do you Stone's fans think about the lost songs?

The Rolling Stones...I like a LOT of their songs, but dammit if they don't annoy me a bit anyway. I've never been a fan of their so-called big 4 albums, rather I'm a fan of a lot of the singles and I think "Aftermath" is their best album. Plus their earliest albums are the most fun. Frankly, The Singles Collection is all I really need. Don't think I haven't tried hard enough, though, I've been listening to them frequently for about 4-5 years.

Aside from the countless famous jams they have, I sometimes stumble onto some amazing stuff that is never recognized as much as it should be.

What made me create this thread in particular? "Sweet Virginia" off of Exile on Main St., which I picked up after a brief visit to one of New England's world famous burger slop-houses. Some drunks harassed me into playing the song, and I don't know how you can't love this song. It just sounds like hanging out having a good time. Sloppy, Bluessy and groove-filled, its the stones at their best, and its easy to see the human side of these guys. No introspection, so virtuosity, just a jam that will not quit.
Personally I believe the Rolling Stones to be the second most recognized band behind the Beatles. I mean it's all image. The Beatles were promoted as a cute well behaved band and the Stones were presented as the band you should not let your Daughters listen to. In the end though both bands are the most talked about most written about bands of all time.
