Zach de la Rocha no contest... psh :bringit:

IamAlejo 12-23-2003 07:32 AM

dustin from thrice....he's got a decent/good voice, but the lyrics he comes up with are even better. So he gets my nod as the best.

oh I kinda agree with Edgil...Rage was such an amazing band...but It wasn't just their singing and lyrics...the guitar was great too.

I always liked Jon Bon Jovi too.
ex: Livin' on a prayer. <- cool song. :)

Definately, I'm sorry but no one now has the integrity, or... balls so to say to speak up with the amazing lyrics that Zach de la Rocha came up with and it definately had a unique sound and style with Rage that worked and was amazing ;)

Errant 12-29-2003 02:50 PM

ZDLR, Thom York, Kurt Cobain, Roger Waters...all very memorable

Zack De La Rocha - Definately...............hail hail!!

deadbolt 01-21-2004 01:28 PM

Best Singer

Dustin from Thrice pisses all over other vocalists lyrically and vocally, his outstanding screaming vocals along with excellent guitar talent jus make him an all round great performer. THRICE ALL THE WAY!

gothbabe2 01-21-2004 10:28 PM

Drifting_Angel 05-27-2004 01:21 AM

Kurt Cobain and Freddy Mercury

northern_angel455 05-31-2004 03:51 PM

My fave deserves a mention

Sh*t so many greats, would agree Cobain, Mercury and Morrison have to be up there but if we're talking personal favourites I'm gonna give my honourable mention to Anthony Kiedis.

He can do loud, he can do strong, he can do soft, he can do sexy, he can do rapping, he can do shouting, he can do angry, outraged, and completely in love, he can do dirty, he can do offensive, hell he can even do (amazing) lyrics. Yep I could (and do) listen to him for hours. Don't get me started any more!

Eltiraaz 06-11-2004 07:22 PM

Morrison is pretty cool, but not the best.

Axl Rose is my fav frontman. for sure, at least before he became a washed up rehab nightmare.

Billy Corrigan from the Smashing Pumpkins actually gets my vote. I loved that band.

Thrice 06-11-2004 07:35 PM

Brandon Boyd-Incubus
and Dustin-Thrice

soundgardenrox 06-25-2004 05:31 PM

I would have to agree with the very first person's answer it would have to be Jim Morrison

TranquilMelee 06-27-2004 05:07 PM

im gonna get hurt but i dont really like thrice that much i'd go with Aaron Lewis from staind

Mr.Everett 06-28-2004 08:45 PM

well, you will all disagree with me but I love Dani Filth's voice.

SikThInDaHead 07-07-2004 02:42 AM

Kurt Cobain
Layne Staley
Jim Morrisson
Corey Taylor
MikeE.W.Goodman(SikTh)
Greg Puciato(Dillinger Escape Plan)

Rust In Peace 07-08-2004 07:03 PM

erm....Most the singers you have all mentioned are good. But you don't rate a singer for the lyrics they sing. Christ if we did that then Jim Steinman (songwriter wrote Bat Out Of Hell!) would be a great singer. But if you've heard him sing, then you will know that he can't. But he is the best songwritter.

Anyway. My fav Rock Singer is MEAT LOAF.
He is the man. He has a very powerful voice, and can pull you into the song.

How could you all forget him?

covle 07-09-2004 01:43 AM

jim morrison and kurt cobain have been mentioned and thats awsome. they are the best not just because of their vocal abilities, but because they were so revolutionary and different. they broke the mould. other singers of this calibre according to me are...:robert plant(led zeppeling), neil young, cat stevens, mick jagger, singer from yes...(whats his goddamn name?!), bob dylan, phil collinsand all members of the eagles....bar don henley.
these guiys and many more-im too drunk to be specifically specific. but the singers of this day though many are extremely talented dont and cant sing with the....soul? of those men.

SikThInDaHead 07-09-2004 09:56 AM

Specifically specific!!!!Amazing!!

There will never be another performer like Jim Morrisson. He put his soul into every performance. He was an awesome poet aswell.I suggest to ppl that they read 'No-one here gets out alive'...the bio of the great man himself.
As for Kurt Cobain....he is,for me,the greatest muscian that ever lived. His integrity and honesty will never be matched.Tortured yet brilliant. The John Lennon of our generation.A lot of the press today think Jack White is the nearest thing we have to Kurt Cobain.I dont think The White Stripes are on the same level as Nirvana, but he does seem a special talent.

gregb 07-09-2004 09:59 AM

I would say josh todd from buckcherry, that dude was sex, drugs and rock and roll all the way

covle 07-09-2004 10:54 PM

i hate the white the white stripes with a passion. specifically specific....hahah makes sense when you drunk.<shrug> kurt cobain...mey he rest in peace. but true he is the lennon of our time. that kids got balls

Jman67000 07-10-2004 08:57 PM

Can I just ask how Kurt Cobain broke the mould? He didn't invent any new movement in rock, just happened to write a cacthy tune that Geffen milked for all it was worth, and still do to this day. There were tons of better vocalists working in Seattle at the time, Wood, Cornell, Staley, Vedder etc, and many of those were around the scene from it's infancy, unlike Cobain who was actually introduced to it by The Melvins. He didn't create a new movement at all, sure he was an important figure in introducing it to a mainstream audience, but I don't see how that makes him a brilliant singer.

For me the best vocalists are Robert Plant, Thom Yorke, Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Layne Staley, Zach de la Rocha and Maynard Keenan from Tool.

Eltiraaz 07-15-2004 09:48 AM

Well Kurt never really broke the mold. He simply mass-publicized the breaking of said mold. There were a ton of singers in Seattle in the grunge scene who had sung with that style before he did.

What grunge did was give people the chance to sing in their own voices. All of a sudden you didnt have to be Motley Crue and sing on the same scale as the average opera singer, you could just kind of... grumble..

riseagainstrocks 07-19-2004 03:02 PM

Freddy Mercury had the most amzing voice I've ever heard. Davey Havok is really good. Geoff Rickly. Marshall Smithson...ah...

thederacinator 07-20-2004 07:58 AM

hmmm... I definitely have to go with Zack

hungryhippo 07-20-2004 08:14 AM

Anthony Kiedis is very cool :)
I know he isn't to everyones taste, but i love axle roses voice as squeaky and annoying as it is.
Serj Tankian from system of a down has the most amazing voice

:yeah:
