Santana is amazing! Hes so underated tho, hes just about as talented and inivative as Hendrix, but alot of his instrumentals are kinda unaproachable to most people (liek Jeff Beck :]).

But I only like his 60s/70s stuff, when he started doing stuff with *mocking laugh* Rob Thomas and Chad Kroeger....yech

I dont see anything wrong with Rob Thomas. He is a talented singer, great songwriter, and Matchbox 20 has some great songs.

Sorry, just my opinion. Don't listen to much after the 70s

Santana was awesome in his heyday, Santana and Abraxas are fantastic albums, I love his guitar style, very unique and recognisable.

It is a shame the kinda sh*t artists he chooses to collaborate with these days, I mean going from working with John McLaughlin to working with Chad Kroeger, that's pretty sad.

It's because he's about the paycheck these days. His guitar skills aren't nearly what they used to be either.

I wouldn't say that, he hasn't gotten worse as a guitar player, he just hasn't evolved very much.

But that could be said for a lot of great guitarists these days.

Abraxas is one of my favorite albums, hands down one of the best guitar albums ever made. Santana's style is so vivid on there.

p.s. booboo's new sig FTW.

I mean he makes these overproduced and commercialized "duet" albums with big name pop-stars, and all he's really doing is attaching his name and a few strategically placed guitar licks on it. If that 's not hanging on to you're own shirttails then I don't know what is.

You could say this for a lot of musicians from that era. Eric Clapton for example, it doesn't take away from what they have done and the fact that they were revolutionary musicians for the time and spoke for a whole generation during a very trying time for western culture.

If you don't think your favorite musicians are gonna do some stupid sh*t when they get older, you got another thing coming.

Well as much as I'm not an Eric Clapton fan, I can at least appreciate the way he's going about it. Take a look at the albums he's released in the past ten years. There's been two collaborations with JJ Cale, a collaboration with BB King, A live album released with Steve Winwood. These are all his contemporaries, if not older more influential musicians. Not to mention the album of Robert Johnson covers. Compare that to Santana recording a couple mellodramatic licks on top of a Michelle Branch or dude from Matchbox 20 pop song and slapping his name on it , and Clapton seems full of integrity these days.
