Yep, I suspect Wishbone Ash were actually at their best as a live band, Chillie. Good choice!

I don't know if The Doors Alive! She Cried passes U Soldier's slightly picky (imo) criteria, but it passes mine: great music that gives you some material/improvs that you won't find on a studio album.

I'd put it in a top ten list of live albums from that era.

I can trust Psy-Fi to be on the same page, with an absolute personal favourite! Anyone who likes At Fillmore East should check out another stella guitar album:
Fleetwood Mac Live At The Boston Tea Party
Other live rock albums I like:-
Little Feat: Waiting For Columbus
Roxy Music: Viva!
801: 801 Live

No-one has yet mentioned a combination that was popular back in the day:a double album with one live disc and one studio disc. Everyone's too scared of U Soldier's purist scorn I suppose ;)
In that category, these were mega-popular milestones, in England at any rate:-
Cream : Wheels Of Fire
Floyd: Ummagumma

For southern rock fans:
Allman Bros: Eat A Peach
Marshall Tucker Band: Where We All Belong

Not really a live album connoisseur myself, but my favorites would be two that have already been mentioned, Live at Folsom Prison- Johnny Cash, and the Who- Live at Leeds.
