Do you judge every band you like on a musical dexterity level? It's not a criticism at all. I have just found that the actual musicianship seems to overide all other aspects of your love of a band when I find it one of the LEAST important things in music.
However if you do love music from this view point then you should really widen your net and check out many bands who are great musicians who just happen to play more commercial music and/or make great tunes outside of a Rock scenario.
