Thats for you to decide. Any quite frankly I couldnt give a flying ****.
The reason i posted that list of artists off the top of my head that I am into was in response to 'you havent heard much music then have you?'
So the point of your post is totally unsourced.
Are you now going to tell me that just because I have broken the Code of Listening and do not like i repeat DO NOT LIKE the two supposedly 'greatest' bands of all time then I consequently do not have good taste in music. I dont say I have good taste but what I do have is a wide taste in music. Obviously if your musical interests do not extend beyond the worship of The Beatles & The Rolling Stones then its clearly evident who is talking rubbish.
I dont recall stating a preference to either The Beatles or The Rolling Stones....so who's reading into things?

They are only two bands out of all the bands that have ever been, day after day i find great band s with great lyrics and excellent music who have been overlooked.
So please dont resort to talking rubbish. As for Nirvana I like two tracks 'About A Girl' & 'Something In The Way' but they are no where near(IMO) the best grunge band, they were simply the most commercially successful/most popular/most hyped/most talked about. Doesnt necessarily make them the best by any means. People seem to live their lives by the media and album sales instead of forming their own opinions on what they like and making their own minds up.
For instance I had never heard of The Beatles/didnt know of their legacy at around age 12 or 13 or so and my uncle gave me a tape (think it was Sgt Pepper) and I listened to it and thought it was dreadful and still do.
You're talking about how the media influences peoples opinions of bands. For one thats insulting to the rest of us, to say that if I like Nirvana it's only because the media told me to, that's both incorrect and snobbish.

And also, if you hate on bands BECAUSE of their media exposure, it's the same thing, you're letting the media influence your opinion.

Theres no way you'd consider The Beatles and Stones the worst bands ever if they were just obscure bar bands that you discovered one day, but no they happen to be the two most popular bands on earth.

And do you think it's cool just to inherently write off what is popular without even judging it fairly? Well it's not.

I'm not knocking your taste, a lot of the artists you mentioned are in my favorites as well. I have a problem with your reasoning.

I think anyone here can tell you I know how to spell "grammar".

I made a mistake, that happens.

I'm not even talking about spelling, I'm talking about your use of phrases, you're not making any sense, you call The Beatles the worst band ever, and yet you say their music doesn't bother you and you like John Lennon, so that's entirely inconsistant.

I know you're full of crap man, but you're not even faking it very well.

I'd disagree with this.

There's plenty of times when I hear a song and I don't really have an opinion of it either way. After hearing it maybe 50/60 on radio/tv/whatever times I find sometimes they really grate.

So there's a perfectly valid example of me hating a song primarily because of the media.

It's not like the band decides how many times their songs get played on the radio.

I don't see what that has to do with anything.

Whatever. I admit, and I know some assh*le is gonna bring up the indie/pitchfork thing, that certain kind of fans make a band I already dislike even more annoying. But they never make me hate a band.

The media can never make me hate a band, a good band is a good band and a bad band is a bad band and that's that, it'll never change because of what the media does, I don't care about radio play, I still love Zep and Floyd no matter how overplayed they are on the radio, the key for me has been simple, turn the radio off or change the station.
