The Seeds
Thirteenth Floor Elevators
The Left Banke
The Electric Prunes
Blues Magoos
The Young Rascals
The Standells
Jefferson Airplane (not the Starship- They're horrible)
Grateful Dead (or anything from late 60s San Francisco really)
Grapefruit

From the seventies...

Slade
King Crimson (if you like prog)
Sparks
Alice Cooper
Raspberries (Great power pop)
Badfinger (If you like the Beatles- second most succesful group from Apple)

And then there are the eighties

REM
Midnight Oil
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
The Smiths
The Pandoras

And more recently...

The Like
Ty Segall
Animal Collective
Beach House

Really a sixties fan though (and an old man )
Oh oh, this is gonna be a long reply.
First of all thanks for all the suggestions you posted.
I'm gonna start from the most recent ones (cause I don't know any)
Then from the eighties I think I like REM (a couple of songs), then people here have suggested Nick Cave, I think I don't like The Smiths (again, I've only geard 3 songs), and I've never heard about the rest.
70s: I like Slade. I love In The Court Of The Crimson King (only album by King Crimson I've heard). Actually the only band I've never heard of on that list is Sparks. I like the 3 songs I've listened to by Alice Cooper and I also like Badfinger (despite someone here said it was an unrewarding rabbit hole ). And just started listening to Raspberries, cause I recently found out it was Eric Carmen's band.
Finally, the 60s.
bands of your list I've never heard of:
The Seeds
The Left Banke
The Electric Prunes
The Standells
Grapefruit
Some like The Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Blue Magoos and The young Rascals, have already been mentioned, I think.
I love Jefferson Airplane. They were on my initial list. I wanna be like Grace Slick when I grow older lol
I starting listening to The Grateful Dead recently too. Cool band!

I think you could also check out:

Donovan

Janis Ian

Gram Parsons

Tim Buckley

Kaleidoscope

The Faces

Buffalo Springfield

Neil Young

Country Joe & The Fish

The Moody Blues

Gandalf

Love

The Who

The Grateful Dead

Ananda Shankar

Canned Heat

Paul Simon’s first album

Os Mutantes

David Bowie

Tamikrest

Tinariwen

The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band

Also (and this is coming from a Stones’ fanatic) maybe take another try at the Rolling Stones.

I’ve had that exact same situation with my girlfriend, that she came to love and appreciate pretty much all of the 60s/70s music I was showing her, but for some reason she really wasn’t into the Stones. But after a few tries, a couple of playlists, and a documentary she’s sometimes even more of a Stones fan than I am.

What albums did you listen to?
Well, another long reply for this one!!
The Who are probably one of my top 5 bands, I think I included them on my intial list. I loooove David Bowie!!
Thanks to this thread, I also came to appreciate the music made by Donovan, Neil Young and The Faces (and probably some more from your list).
About The Rolling Stones...It's difficult to explain, I'm just gonna copy what I wrote in another thread:
Quote:
What sucks about The Rolling Stones?
Easy question, the answer is: Mick Jagger.
Not that he was a bad singer or songwriter, but his "I invented rock n' roll, babe" behaviour gets on my nerves every time i listen to The Rolling Stones. Don't get me wrong, they've got some great tunes, but Jagger was and still is so self conceited, that i can't stand him and I get annoyed with his music.
I couldn't stand Robert Plant for the same reason, not because he was self conceited, but because of his attitude on stage, which consisted on wearing (ridiculous) floral blouses and saying "babe, babe mama let's go, woman" thousands of times while Page was doing a 20 minute long guitar solo with a violin bow and Bonham was doing an even longer drum solo. And they acted as if they were supercool, while I was thinking "Lord, this is so boring"...I know it doesn't have much to do with the topic, but I used to think about Led Zeppelin the same way I think about The Rolling Stones now. Now I'm a huge Zep fan, who knows, maybe I'll get to like the Stones, too.
Albums I've heard: Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Exile on Main St., Sticky Fingers and Goats Head Soup. Actually the only one I think I sort of like is Sticky Fingers, mainly because of Wild Horses, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

Try listening to some of the albums they released prior to 'Beggar's Banquet.'

If that doesn't change your mind then they probably just aren't going to be your musical cup of tea.

That's one of them I'd suggest.

Maybe 'Decenber's Children' as well.

I'd suggest Between the Buttons just because it's my favourite of the earlier albums

Aftermath includes Paint It Black, and Decenber's Children includes As Tears Go By . I should give them a listen I guess.

Never heard about that one actually. But I like Ruby Tuesday, which is included on it.
Tbh I only knew about Aftermath, I had to google both Between The Buttons and Decenber's children .

Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing

Between the Buttons has a nice overall psychedelic pop/early 60s (even though it's actually late 60s) feel to it

And I think most of the songs from that album are not that well known to the general public (maybe because of the US release inclusion of the two lead singles, which are so good, they kind of shade the other songs), while there are some real gems on there

My personal favourites would be

"Yesterday's Papers"

"Cool, Calm and Collected"

"All Sold Out"

and "Something Happened To Me Yesterday"

also, the guitar work on "Connection" is just pure gold

Those are pretty much exactly my favourites too
It's really an underrated album

Also, if Mick is the problem for you, maybe you could check out Keith's solo carrier? His two albums "Talk is Cheap" and "Main Offender" are just great. with standout tracks like

"Locked Away"

"You Don't Move Me"

"Hate it When You Leave"

"Demon"

"Rockawhile"

"Yap Yap"

"Struggle"

and "Words of Wonder"

or "Big Enough" (with Bootsy Collins on bass!)

also, his 2015 album has some great stuff on it, like "Suspicious" and the title track "Crosseyed Heart"

Also, some of the Stones songs with Keith on vocals are great, like the dylanesque "You Got The Silver", the most positive song on earth "Happy", and the new-wavish beautiful ballad "Slipping Away"

Aftermath definitely but the debut is great if you dig garage rock. I'm not much of a fan of later Stones either.
