Radiohead's Album-Closers
Radiohead is known for ending albums with powerful, emotional songs. Your favorite? My vote goes to Street Spirit (Fade Out), although every single one of them ranks among Radiohead's strongest.

Band of Horses is great, and props to them for naming the excellent song "Detlef Schrempf" after an NBA player from the 90's, despite the song having nothing to do with him, from what I can tell.

I'd throw out "The End" by The Doors, and, definitely my favorite intense song, Radiohead's "Climbing Up The Walls," which sends shivers up the spine if listened to at full volume on headphones in...

I'd recommend Disturbed. For a band that mainstream, they're actually quite good, and I'm thinking they might fit your tastes. Nothing too complicated, but very catchy and melodic metal.

He's probably one of the most ridiculous lyricists of all time, but he's a great singer. Holy Diver, Heaven and Hell, Long Live Rock 'n Roll, Rainbow Rising... all full of straight-up excellent metal.
