I would think that making a political song would be harder. If not harder, at least more fulfilling than some cheesy love song. This, however, may be due to the fact that my store plays mostly crappy love songs on the speakers; it's horrible.

I went for Political Statement partly because the amount of love songs around despite the fact that the songs that already exist pretty much cover everything (and new songs rarely cover new ground in terms of topic). Love is written about because it's such an easy topic to write about, not because anybody else needs to hear about it. I think political statement songs are written more because there's an actual need for them, and creating something because it's needed is harder than just creating something because it's easy to create.

umm there both kinda hard to write.... although I have never written a politcal statement.... I would guess that.... love is harder...depending on how you look at it though..... Love isn't a very easy thing to describe in just a song..... its been around since the beginning of time........... and politics are still new to the world even if they have been around for awhile...but love is such a touchey thing to write about... You have to be careful what you say or you could cross the line into dangerous waters for that.

For me, it would be a political statement.

I'd find it harder to do a political statement too. If you're writing a love song you have thousands and thousands of other songs for inspiration when you get stuck. With a political statement you really need to know your own views and you need to know how to get them across effectively.

love can be anything. political statement needs to be well thought-out and precise or you end up looking ignorant. i went with political statement being harder

Well given the experience, love songs seem easier since some of them basically are stating the affection for someone else.

The political equivalent of that would be something like "I vote democrat, ya, ya, ya"

And this isn't really a political stance. The intricacies of politics are deep and elaborate. You can fall in love with someone instantly. Solving third world debt isn't usually immediate.

I think it would depend on the individual artist. Personality, Emotions, Talent, Society, Government, Country, Attitude, etc. + Music.
