Jackhammer gave useful advice and so did KL and the OP responded fairly immaturely to the two, so naturally it went to hate train. Well, maybe not natural for everywhere, but natural for MB.

I write a lot of lyrics and poetry, but I will never post it in here. It is not because of a negative opinion I may recieve. More the fact that I have wrote it and if you don't like it , then bollocks to ya! I don't feel the need to ask someones opinion as that implies a lack of confidence in the piece in the first place. I just think these sort of threads are inviting people to take pot shots at you whether justified or not.

I didn't say I felt your comment was out of line but c'mon "i'm not seeing how a knowledge of metal is relevant to a punk song."? What does that have to do with anything, and boring and cliche, okay but this is coming from a user who never ventures into the songwriting forum.

People should'nt post in here if they can't take criticism. Simple really. That's why I don't post in here, i'm far too sensitive!

I can take criticism fine. You guys just didn't understand the style of music this song was written for, and therefore called the lyrics childish. Go read some TBIAPB or Ghost Mice lyrics, for God's sake.

obscure genres don't make bad lyrics good.

you don't have to change your lyrics, but at least listen to people's opinions.
just because people haven't heard of certain bands doesn't mean they can't criticize your work.

I feel that lyrics should not make a genre. writing lyrics specifically for a genre only brings cliches and stagnates it. if everyone was writing similar things to adhere to whichever genre, that genre would end up repetitive. pretty silly.
